If there’s one man who you can be sure would empathise with another over an injury, it’s Jack Wilshere. The England midfielder’s career has been punctuated by prolonged absences, so it’s clear he feels for Danny Welbeck after the striker damaged his knee in the 2-2 draw with Man City yesterday.
Arsenal fear he’s damaged his lateral meniscus, a problem that would keep him out of Euro 2016 if it’s confirmed, and of course it comes on the back of another major injury.
Welbeck suffered bone bruising in his other knee last season, and ended up requiring surgery. He only made his first appearance of the season in February, and now it looks as if this campaign is over for him.
He was replaced by Wilshere, who said, “Of course I didn’t want to get on like that. Danny has been through enough injuries.
“He’s been through hell and I know what it’s like for him. He’ll be gutted.”
Welbeck will have a scan today to assess the severity of the problem. Fingers crossed for him.
Lord wilshere knows
Crazy amounts of injuries. Imagine if Tomas and Santi were fit for another couple of months each this season. We would be second in the PL without doubt, possibly higher.
And that’s ignoring the other injuries to Jack, Alexis, Danny etc.
When it happens in one or two seasons (not just these particular players but injuries to us in general) is bad luck.
We should be better prepared e.g. having a decent squad player, that the manager actually trusts to rather than forced to play – Campbell (maybe even Chambers).
Otherwise we are in the region of “If ifs and buts were pots and pans”!!
I read that Arsenal will be making a bid for Sturridge. Great player that he is but do we need another sicknote????
something about injuries
At least it was not something that happened while he was changing channels on his TV.
That twist of the knee was bad. It was agent Sagna that caused this 🙁
Something else about our injury record and Shad…
