Calum Chambers, currently on loan at Middlesbrough, and Rob Holding have been named in the England U21 squad for upcoming European Championship qualifying games against Kazakhstan (Oct 6th) and Bosnia & Herzegovina (Oct 11th).
The duo have some Arsenal history together, playing on the opening day of the season when we lost 4-3 to Liverpool, but have also played together at international level and were part of the England squad that won the Toulon Tournament this summer.
Holding has enjoyed a fairly decent start to his Arsenal career, featuring well alongside Laurent Koscielny and helping to keep clean sheets against Leicester and Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup.
With the Frenchman and Shkodran Mustafi forming a new partnership in the middle, and Gabriel back from injury, he may find himself sidelined a little bit, but that’s natural enough.
The international games should help and assuming Arsenal go well in the Champions League and EFL Cup, there could be more chances there.

For me, Holding is alreadywell ahead of Chambers and a little bit unlucky that a world class defender came in just as he was starting to settle in the 1st team. I was very impressed with him.
However, he’s still very young and I have very high hopes of him growing into the role of natural successor to either BFG or Kos and forming a formidable future triumvirate with Mustafi and Gabriel.
I haven’t seen us this well stocked at CB since George Graham days.
Good news for the both of them. I’m a bit surprised by the lack of Akpom though.
My thoughts exactly. The mess that is Grealish gets a place but Chuba misses out doesn’t sit well with me.
Ainsley Matiland-Niles, Conservative as well. He scored a tremendous goal for the U-20s a little while ago.
Akpom hasn’t done anything to warrant a position in that list. Let’s not let our bias play are part.
a*
Oh my bad, thought thus was the comment section on best young player. So sorry ?
Akpom should’ve had a look in for this ?
Grealish should be no where near the set up the little prick.
Blogs, there’s an ad on this page about pre-paying the cost of my funeral…do they know something I don’t? I’m worried now…specially by the bit about “no health checks required”…
Yes, so sorry #rip_papas
#prayforpapas
#goodbye_cruelworld…Will I not see my Arsenal win the EPL or the CL this year then?
I’d rather see an add about funerals than the add one i keep getting with Christiano Ronaldo showing off his amazing machine enhanced abs.
Is Isaac Hayden still a Gunner?
No. Plays for Newcastle.
