Jenkinson returns to training

Carl Jenkinson confirmed last night that he would be making a return to full training on Monday after recovering from cruciate knee ligament damage sustained in January.

The right-back picked up the injury playing for West Ham United against Manchester City while on loan at Upton Park and required surgery.

As things stand, Arsenal are well stocked at right-back with Hector Bellerin the outright first-choice, Mathieu Debuchy still on the books and youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles impressing in the EFL Cup against Nottingham Forest.

Jenkinson will likely step up his recovery with game time for the under-23s in Premier League 2 and could look for a loan move in January if his path to first team action remains blocked.

Welcome back Carl, the banter bus has been expecting you.

Good news, would love him to come back and succeed, though tough to have Bellerin as the competition.

Looks like Gibbs is stepping up with Monreal as competition.

Hard_Coq

Great news. Time to sell Debuchy

I was wondering if he was still the living actual Corporal and not just a corpse. Good to see him risen from no man’s land.

shokim

That’s excellent news! Was so excited to see Jenko’s name in the squad list. Really want him to recover well and get back to playing soon. Welcome back!

Still a better player than Matheiu Debuchy….

Eternal Titi Berg Pat Nostalgia

Not true.

PFo

Perhaps not, but I’d still much rather have him as our backup right back.

Look….Debuchy has never performed consistently, and Jenkinson has done it for Arsenal….furthermore, Debuchy just has has his head in the wrong place currently. He doesnt look like he wants to play for Arsenal, and couldn’t even make it in the EFL…hence Wenger selecting Ainsley Maitland-Niles over him. With the current momentum that we are building, we really dont need that kind of energy from Debuchy….Jenkinson has a much better attitude, and is gooner through and through!

I’m not Dedouchey fan, but I’m pretty sure the reason why he didn’t make it to the EFL squad was mainly because he had just returned from injury and wasn’t match-fit enough to start.

Let’s not starting telling porkey pies to suit our agenda. Let’s leave that to Journos and Policitians.

Trez

Definitely not true. Debuchy might have attitude problems, but he is a very solid rb and was one of the best in the league before his injury. If he can get his head straight, I’d gladly keep him. He’s versatile and very good in the air.

Gunman

Brilliant now we can sack Debuchy

Sancheezy

Welcome back Corporal Carl “Mad Bantz” Jenkinson.

Özorlexisey

One touch, two touch…whatchu want?
A gooner through and through.
Corporal Jenks back on duty.

MarkG

Great to have him back. Works his arse off and loves the club. What more do you want? Welcome home Carl 🙂

Wenger's Smirk

This is exciting. I must say, the thought of a life long fan playing for the club that they love makes it all real. It’s like everyone on this blog is living vicariously through Jenks!

Pauloo

We loan West Ham a very fit Jekinson, but unfortunately they returned an injured player to us. We beg Bournemouth not to do this oo.

jon

Really nice to have Jenkinson back now we can finally sell debuchy in January.

Trez

Great news. While he’s not as great as hector and Calum going forward, he is very good defensively and his crosses are not bad at all. Great squad player.

Buy Curious

love that he loves to be a Gooner. Here is hoping a return to health and form and that his dad might sing the Champions League Anthem at our next home fixture in that competition

santori

I was just getting worried about cover for Bellerin. Jenkinson IMO is a bit limited but I’ll take his commitment any day to the lukewarm attention of the oft missing Debuchy. Quite what this may say of Calum’s future is anybody’s guess. To me , Chambers should be put back into his original position at Rback to develop but he’s on loan. We might be seeing both Calum or Jenkinson eventually tussle for the second spot at Rback. But if Jenks is back to cover, it will be a welcome sight. One thing we can say is we get no… Read more »

This is good news! Hopefully he can get back to match fitness and start pushing Hector for a starting place.

Hopefully the competition for right-back may push Hector’s development a little bit, as well as improving Carl in the process. Nice problem for Arsene to have!

Either way, it’s good to have him return to the squad. I expect we will see him in he EFL.

Aleksander Włodarz

He’s a good boy – welcome back Carl and the Passions !

Arsepedant

Jenks is living the dream that we all wish we were living too. I wish him all the very best and I hope he goes on to have a storming great career with us!

Stillmatic

Like others, glad he’s back.
But he’s got his work cut out for him. I think people may be underestimating just what Maitland-Niles brings to the table, especially if he takes to his RB conversion.

Oleg Luzhny

Welcome Corporal Jenks
Good to have you back!!!

shem kebeno
