The football is back and it’s a home game against Southampton to get us going again. Arsene Wenger has a big strong squad to choose from.
Here are the official line-ups.
Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Perez
Subs: Ospina, Holding, Elneny, Xhaka, Iwobi, Alexis, Giroud
Southampton: Forester, Cedric, Clasie, Fonte, van Dijyk, Bertrand, Davis, Romeu, Tadic, Redmond, Rodriguez,
Subs: McCarthy, Yoshida, Long, Austin, Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg, Targett
Xhaka and Alexis on the bench? We must be truly spoilt for options
Say whaaaaat!?
COYG
Walcott and Ox did not play for national team. Wenger doesn’t want to stretch others.
Xhaka on bench 🙁
In mexico on holiday waiting for the big match….COYG!!
Seems the fans are making team selections these days.. great!
Saving Xhaka and Alexis for PSG?
Team looks strong. Lots of pace. Hopefully Perez can emulate some of his predecessors and get off the mark against the Saints. Excited for the game. COYR!!!
Can only assume we’re resting players for the mid-week game. Need to be careful though, Southampton spanked us last year. Let’s hope the new boys impress!
The whole squad should be capable of winning this game, comfortably. IF we get our game together!
Alexis has played two intense international games in a very short time.. And also if we play with our Coq out we will be better on defense, which can be a good thing against Southampton who have troubled us a great deal the last few seasons..
Bench is insane
Best bench for as long as I can remember…
As long as there are no full back injuries…..
So excited that the 2 new boys are starting today! Come on, let’s win this!
Wow, that’s probably the best subs we’ve had in a long long time!
Perez straight from the whistle! Surprised, but excited to see him in action finally. I honestly think he’s going to be a big hit in Arsenal colours.
Really have got fantastic squad depth these days.
Now to go on a winning run…over to you Arsenal…
Ox and Theo start! Not what I would have done but I am not a PL manager!
Why the Ox?
because Iwobi is just coming back and to give him some belief.
How often have we got to say recently that the bench is pretty impressive???
I’m genuinely excited. What a bench, woof!
This game is more important than PSG….
We could lose 6-0 in Paris and still qualify easily.
If we drop points today we could be 8 points behind City….title over.
Pick your strongest team, and sub players after the game is in the bag.
Title over? In early September? Who are you – Michael Owen?
Did you made psg barca? Even with barca we are not losing 6-0.
Psg are shit this season, and we have a great chance to win in france and get the first place.
Also alexis is rested because he came back to london yesterday, i’m sure that if he came back couple of days before he would start. As for giroud he is not ready to start and the diference now is that we have ready striker to start and last season we didn’t and we would saw not ready giroud starting this game because we didn’t have another striker.
Pardon me for sticking this here, but why the hell is Wilshere on the bench for Bournemouth?
He’s made to sit the first game so he could familiarise himself with The English game. You know the pace and the aggression thing.
Believe me, he’ll be brought in the second half, like a certain Pires
If we upgrade our wingers that team could win anything.
Walcott and Ox are too inconsistent to be title winners if they both start. Upgrade one with Mahrez and Alexis on the other wing and you have s CL winning team!
We just need Campbell back as one option and the consistency will show.
Unfair to criticise the Ox too much. from what I saw, non of our forwards got quick service today and when they finally got the ball, the defence was ready. When he did get the ball he had a few dangerous surges into the box that could have been different at the end of the match, when legs are tired. Always unfair to criticise the forwards jut from the fires sixty minutes when everything is tighter. Especially with poor service.
Truly looks a 2003/4 esque team. Can’t wait for this one!
You just got to love Santi!
I do love Santi and I do admit my eyes weren’t what they were, but Santi spiller a lot of possession, not being a forward, and if he hadn’t scored that penalty, (not a great one) he would have really disappointed.
Nothing like bagging the 3 points in extra time but our game was a bit of a downer. The Ox’s form is very worrying…feels so much better to moan after a win
Good three points. The performance was disjointed. No flow whatsoever. Ox is very frustrating. With his ability he should be causing mayhem on the flanks but no,poor application brings him down. Time to rejoice though. Bring on PSG
