Skipper: Giroud’s time will come

Olivier Giroud will find his way back into the Arsenal team over the course of the season, according to Laurent Koscielny.

The on-field skipper spoke about the situation his international teammate faces at the moment, but has backed his ‘mental strength’ to see him through.

Giroud’s late arrival back from the Euros, the form of Alexis Sanchez and a toe injury have disrupted his start to the season, and with Arsenal scoring plenty of goals, he’s going to have to wait for his chance.

Speaking about the 30 year’s situation, Koscielny said, “That’s a delicate situation for him. We came back late following the Euros. We joined the squad at another time. It took us more time to get fit,” he said.

“Olivier needed a little more time than others. Then there is a lot of competition up front at Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez is currently playing exceptionally well so it’s complicated to push him out the starting 11.

“I know Olivier and he’s experienced much worse. We know his mental strength. One season is very long so he’ll have his chance in the following weeks.

“He’ll then have to answer the call.”

The season is long and we’ll definitely need to call on the full squad throughout if we want to remain competitive. No doubt Giroud will play his part.

As long as Giroud doesn’t do a Debuchy, we’re fine..COYG

Hard_Coq

I seriously,
really,
dun think,
that he will do a Debuchy

dt

Surely Giroud won’t
Do a Debuchy too, right?
Refridgerator

Iceberg10

Only Debuchy will and can do a Debuchy

Anonymarse

He could do a Giroud.

Not sure what that might be exactly.

What I mean is nowhere in that interview does any arsenal player say teammate A is HINDERING teammate B and yet…..

Gudang Pelor

I know what you mean, Mate.

Steven

That’s the media for you. It happens with everything unfortunately. Nobody punishes disinformation in any way so they can get away with anything

Absolutely thought we needed Giroud in the Burnley game. He’s so effective (usually) in those types of games and has a cracking record off the bench. Plus his best form seems to come when he has competition for his place, so I have no doubt he’ll play a big role this season.

Fletcher

True, he along with Welbeck when he returns are very effective on beating defensive tactics like the ones employed by Burnley, I still recall Welbeck last gasp winner against Leicester which highlights their importance.

K Dot

Great thing is Welbeck doesn’t just add size and strength, he’s also nippy 🙂

Crash Fistfight

Wow, how do you manage to remember back so far?

Campbell's forehead

He has the memory of an elephant that one.

Fletcher

True, he along with Welbeck when he returns are very effective on beating defensive tactics like the ones employed by Burnley, I still recall Welbeck last gasp winner against Leicester which highlights their importance in giving tactical flexibility to the team.

Always a Gunner

He might become a bit part player going forward with Lucas Perez’s availablity.

Ooh Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na…… Miss your presence in well packed defence. Come back strong

The Only Olivier is Giroud

I for one am looking forward to his response. Remember him also standing in line to ask Wenger for backup in the forward department, so let’s see if he can walk the walk.

bob davis

Can’t wait to see him back in action!
I’m sure he’ll want to cement his place back in the starting line-up!
Does anyone know how long he’s out for?

Dawn

With the stronger defence and midfield, Giroud is going to be immense. He knows he has the love and support of Gooners. He was strong when we had so many Injuries last season, time for him to recover slowly and come back stronger. Love Olivier Giroud

Vincent Kompany's Forehead

Off topic but does anyone know when Welbz is back?

I miss his scrappy goals, work rate and his semi 80’s Mid-Top Fade. Seems like a top bloke irl too

Reckon with some more coaching he can improve on his goalscoring record.

Gunman

Wenger’s clearly trying to implement a much more fluid front line without Giroud.I can only see him as a good plan b from now on.

Paul

The “30 year’s situation” is what? 🙂

ub

how much longer do you guys think Giroud will stay at Arsenal for? We have Welbeck (LANS), just signed Perez, Alexis playing upfront and a 30 year old Giroud. Would he look to move in the summer to be a starter again? Or would Welbz be sold due to the fact Giroud provides us with something different.
