I love Alexis.
You’re not the only one.
We are at our best I feel with Sanchez starting up top and then bringing Giroud in during the 2nd half. He has had such an impact as a substitute that he hasn’t had when starting this year (similar at many times to last year when Walcott was leading the line). He may not like that role, but it is what seems to help the team most right now. A fresh Giroud coming in against a tiring defense has proven to be a great success. Sanchez continues to be on such good form and his moving around as he does… Read more »
Do you think Girouds impact is cause the defenders become used to playing against a false 9, so by the 70th minute the introduction of a target man with Girouds physique?
Certainly looks from here as if CBs then don’t know whether to stick with Oli or follow Alexis when he drops deeper as LW later in the game?
Arsene did the same thing with Theo and Giroud and it works both ways – most defenses just cannot cope with such a dramatic change of style of play, both physically extremely demanding, but very different.
The only difference is that it’s easier to prepare the defense to play against Giroud, I’m convinced that if the opposing team would think they are playing against Alexis for the whole week before the match, and then we started Giroud at a very short notice, he would be scoring as many goals as Alexis.
Harsh with Mesut and Nacho though… Mesut created two goals…
No he didn’t
Did you watch the game?
Poor back pass goal 1. Monreal goal 2. Giroud goal 3
I think he’s referring to Ozil’s dispy-doo in the box that allowed everyone to get into the box before his deflected cross fell to Monreal to smash back across goal for Theo. Then the fact he played a one-two with Giroud and laid it out for Giroud to run on to and cross back for Alexis. Just saying.
Kos, Xhaka and Alexis, the core were strong today, conjoined MOTM for me.
So the way to put it was that Ozil assisted the assister on 2 goals, end of debate.
Good riddance to you too, November!
I thought Kos bossed the box all game. I’d give him 8.
Alexis Alexis did well, but defenders are not always as appreciated as much as they could be, and Kos was an absolute Boss today, quite possibly best in the PL right now.
Thought Elneny was very tidy today
That ref was scum
The commitment, passion, workrate and physical abilities of Alexis are unique. Having two world class players in him and Özil (probably 3 with Kos) is just f… fantastic
4 or even 5 when Santi and Hector are on the pitch.
Good win, and while I hope Xhaka and Elneny get a few more games together I really miss Santi
As good as Santi is, I don’t think he’s in the ‘world class’category. Hector, well he’s definitely one of the best in the world in his position but I feel he needs to prove himself for longer
An all-round good battling performance and against a very good Bournemouth side as well. Maybe Sanchez’ best game at CF, has to be MotM and kudos to Walcott for chipping in with the goals. But if I single out anyone I want to single out Ox. And the reason I want to single him out in particular is that, like Ramsey, we’re very quick to give him stick when he plays poorly. I feel those two (and Walcott before this season) seem to be especially targeted after bad performances by some supporters so it’s important to recognise when they’ve done… Read more »
Commentators mentioned it at one point “it’s hard to think of a better centre back right now. He leads the league in interceptions made too”
As a CB there is no one right now worldwide I’d rather have at the back.
Yet when he has a game where it looked hard to say he made a single mistake, he gets a 7? We’ve become complacent about how good Bosscielny really is for us.
Also a nod to Arsene. Detractors say he can’t create good defenders. Muppets.
You clearly don’t remember the stepanovs experiment
I thought Elneny had his best game in an Arsenal shirt today, never stopped running, never stopped pressing his energy levels are fantastic, thought he was our best player today behind Alexis, until his second goal thought it was a tough choice between the pair for motm
Your ratings are sensible as always, apart from Alexis. He gets a 9,5 from me, what an unbelievable human being. Passing, scoring, defending, playing pretty much every position on the pitch. I thought Wenger would rest him today, instead he goes out and puts on one of his finest performances for us. Words can barely describe my love for him.
AW: “I saw Gabriel playing LB for Villarreal. I found 1 tape of him playing RB in Brazil- it wasn’t super convincing but today he did well!”
Classic Wenger!
I thought Granit was great today. The midfield contributed to our movement going forward and I am inclined to say it is due the Xhaneny partnership.
Seriously, does Elneny need oxygen? I’d love to see how many Ks he ran this game.
Though Gabriel was pretty good today. Tried to get forward and provide the over-lap. He’s an excellent athlete, so maybe full-back is his best position.
Love the way Gabriel always wanting the ball and movement helped Elneny. I think that helped both of them in the game. Compared to the psg game.
Good to see Gabriel making an impact and looking like he wants some responsibility in this team. Perhaps he could be another breakout player for us this season.
Elneny was excellent over the 90…Everybody else played in fits and starts but he and Sanchez were good throughout. Really like Elneny, not our best midfielder but guys like that are the most important in the long riun…Like Nacho he is a Mr 7 out of 10…Can give him no higher credit than saying he is beginning to remind me of the roles Edu and Parlour used to play.
Great win today…Anybody know what’s the story with this captain arsenal thing? Has to be a wind up….
Love the gritiness that’s been added to the team. Xhaka and Mustafi this year, and Gabriel last year. Loved seeing Gabriel go over to Wilson after he shoved Mustafi in the corner and bumped him and gave him a little shove as he walked away.
Its that kind of mentality the club needs. Standing up for your team mates, letting the opposition know that kind of behaviour has consequences. I love it.
I don’t believe for one second that Jack wasn’t delighted when Arsenal scored!
Ozil was shit again. If that was ox Ramsey or the people would be screaming
You were watching a different game.
If you don’t get Ozil, I’m sorry.
I expect consistency from him. He goes missing far too often. You keep making excuses for him. He was gash against man utd and psg yet is amazing against Chelsea. Everyone on here keeps claiming him to be world class – not when you go missing as much as he does
Why do people constantly think about simple things you can only see on highlights or ceefax to make ‘the sky is falling down because of ozil’ comments?? Perhaps the reason why he isn’t on the ball so much is because he is being marked. Teams identify him as a threat and block passing lanes to him. But Ozil is special because he knows that if they do that he can create space for other players and changes up the way he plays. He ran his socks off today and has a telepathic understanding with sanchez. Why would you criticise a… Read more »
Remember the fluidity that everyone wants? It was there today. It was Alexis and Ozil, with a lot of help from Theo, from Xhaka making some Santi-like passes, from Monreal, and a surprisingly good effort from Oxlade-Chamberlain. And if you really don’t think that the first two were central to that fluidity, you must have watched a different match.
I think Kos masks some of Mustafi’s deficiencies and had it been Metersaker, he would’ve been met with harsh criticism. His passing is woeful. Thank goodness for the bossielny!
Mustafi has made several huge errors that, luckily, haven’t really been punished (except for a couple of times).
He’s a bit like Xhaka in that he has immense talent, and most of the time does the right thing, but every now and then he will screw up. He’s not the finished product yet. Have you remember how young the guy is. (only 24!)
Koscielny at 24 was much the same; and look at him now. Mustafi has all the makings of a superb CB.
Gotta love Giroud’s attitude now too. Hopefully his recent form (in very limited playing time) will onlz give him confidence and strength. Also, that cross by Monreal, just terrific.
Ramsey not starting = better football … He’s just so ponderous in buildup that any chance for a quick transition ends at his feet … I think he played well in his cameo but that might be his best role … A super sub who can take advantage of tired legs … Giroud might be in the same position … Other than that, good performances from Elneny, Xhaka, Gabriel (surprisingly), and of course Alexis …
I thought Elneny was fucking good today…and Xhaka….but Elneny for me was man of the match.
Ozil was awesome today! He made two goals, he ran his socks off. Surely he was at least as good as Sanchez but he got the same rating as Ramsey lol and I really didn’t see what Welshman added to our attacking play? Ox was good in the first half but in the second he was again poor. It is like when his concetration fall off he starts to make bad decisions and doesn’t turn up in that game again. Feel sorry for Debuchy. He looked really good today and very motivated. Nacho didn’t do anything wrong. It was not… Read more »
He really wasn’t. What goals did he make?
The Walcott and Alexis goal?
His terrible cross to no one was recovered by monreal for Walcott to score.
Giroud created the 3rd
If you are so desperate to claim ozil created them then that’s embarrassing. Take it back far enough and cech has more assists than anyone
He needs to consistently boss games, esp against big opponents. He will have 1/5 good games against a top team. The very best are 4/5
Hey Greg do not worry man! Some players are just exempt from criticism on some blogs and it does not matter what they do (or not do for that matter) they are 7’s. You know what you saw so do not try to fight up. Everyone should be supporting the team in wins and losses but it seems only certain players make us win while others make us lose. But I get where you are coming from. From our record signing at 42 million one would expect much more over those 3 seasons in terms of influence & consistency and… Read more »
In football are not just goals and assists. Since his move to Arsenal. Ozil became more complete player. He is so much better now. Even though he is not assisting this season he is playing better than last year. People just realized now (last) how brilliant he is. This year his role is deeper. He is not meant to assist for goal but to find a player with a killer pass and open them. His form last year didn’t fell that much in the second part of the season he was still making chance after chance but the whole team… Read more »
Walcott’s goal was a header from a cross from Monreal.
Alexis’ 2nd was from from a pass from Giroud, in a move that he started with that peach of a pass to Ozil. Ozil receives, holds it up, and passes it out wide to Giroud who still has a lot of work to do.
Mesut is a fantastic player, and was of course involved in our best attacking play today, but credit where its due.
Here’s hoping AW gives plenty of playing time to Elneny and Iwobi provided they’re in good form this December. There’s the small matter of the African Cup Of Nations, beginning in the new year, where both are likely to be away for some time playing for Egypt and Nigeria, respectively.
Seriously, what is the point of Ramsey? Worse than Denilson. Awful awareness, constantly loses the ball, back pass all the time, slows down play, can’t shot, can’t tackle, doesn’t track back, constantly falls over.
What’s the point? It’s not a surprise we were playing far better without him on our team and been poor the last few matches with him in it. Gah
I understand your point but…..worse than Denilson….really? You cannot be serious.
For a while there i totally thought you were talking about Arteta. Ha ha ha
I am amazed by the level of criticism for our own players. Mustafi a woeful passer? Ramsey pointless? Ozil shit!?! A tough game that we won. The whole team contributed to a great result. Can we get off their backs for a second and celebrate a hard fought victory?
Bournemouth at home is not a tough game. Man utd away – possibly but they are shit and we all know how bad we were on that day. Psg at home is tough again shit and lucky to draw
I can’t believe that you dont think every player should be criticized after every match. Ferguson and mourinho didn’t care about your past, only what you did in your last game. If you want to win the epl, everyone has to play at their best every minute of every game. Waiting for these project players to come of age is a dream. If you play for arsenal, you should be the finished product. Madrid aren’t playing any projects, they end up on the bench. If arsenal aspire to be the best, the players must be held to the highest standards.… Read more »
Anyone who doesn’t see the value of Elneny needs to check his brain checked. He is a very useful player to have. Energetic, tidy on the ball and good with keeping the game flowing…he’s a great asset to this team.
Xhaka was immense in the second half. He’s the closest we’ll get to replacing Santi.
On the other hand, Monreal has dropped down a few levels. We need to get a replacement this summer.
Giroud had a nice assist. Hope his injury isn’t too serious
Not wanting to jump the gun, but if we want a more “defensively minded” fullback to play on the opposite flank to Bellerin, perhaps Gabriel could become an option? Thought he acquitted himself well today at fullback but obviously it’s only one game
I really like Elneny today and I’m pretty sure he is holding so much more up his sleeve and hope Wenger boost him more forward. The pass he made from which Ozil scored that wonder goal was a piece of art and shows his great vision yet somehow he is tactically stifled in more defensive roles. By the way this kid before joining Arsenal was scoring goals from distance left right and centre he really need to get back to that quick
If Theo had a decent first touch and could cross a ball he could play for England. Comedy gold with the mis-kick and shit cross. He ran a lot though. He has played better. What chance Eddie Howe for Arsenal? B-mouth were positive going forward and could have got something if Cech hadn’t stepped in. Big game next weekdn away to the Hammers. That will tell the real story.
Agree with most except; Ox – his passing was woeful at times. Gave away the ball 3-4 times in the first half under no pressure whatsoever. Good , hard running again though – that is his forte, but need to see more improvements to the weaker side of his game. Was also completely spent by the 70th minute. Xhaka – Defensively very poor in the first half, Bournemouth glided past him like he was a training cone. Was better in the 2nd half when we gained the ascendancy..but, dare I say it, he has a bit of Jordan Henderson about… Read more »

Seriously Elneny, do you even breathe?
The best piece of skill on the day was that Ozil double jink before crossing the ball to Monreal who assisted Walcott. I suggest people go and watch that for some happiness in their day. Absolutely marvelous when seen again and again.
Ffs man! Crossed the ball to monreal? Watch it again. Nice little jink bit that cross was woeful. It only got to monreal because of the terrible headed clearance from the defender
That was Elneny’s best game for the club, Xhaka did well too. Koscielny was imperious and Gabriel did OK at full back, his pace and desire make him a reasonable alternative to Bellerin – he deserves to keep his place ahead of Jenkinson. Sanchez was MOM by country mile.
Just love to see Alexis egging on the other forwards to press.. the others do it in spurts, but very rarely as a team
Hello greg is best that you help your mother in the kitchen since you dont know the beauty of football.
Where was Jenks?
I think Wenger is confused about Xhaka.
Bought him as a DM then called him more.of a box to box and now calls him deep.lying midfielder. Maybe if we have two interchangeable midfielders as a posed to one dm and one controlling midfielder we could be more.fluid.
If you look at.Alexis and Ozil it’s hard to tell what position either one is playing
I like the way Ox takes player on and creates width but left obvoiusly isnt his best position.
