Arsene Wenger says Kieran Gibbs is a doubt for Sunday’s North London derby after injuring his shoulder in the 3-2 win over Ludogorets.
The left-back went midway through the second half on Tuesday night and received treatment before returning to the pitch and finishing the match.
“We have some uncertainties,” Wenger told press on Thursday morning. “Gibs has been touched on his shoulders, we’ll see how he reacts today.”
Gibbs’ potential absence is exacerbated by the fact Nacho Monreal is also struggling for fitness.
“Monreal has tests today and tomorrow and then we’ll decide,” confirmed Wenger.
Santi Cazorla still hasn’t trained since picking up an Achilles problem – “he’ll try and practice today and we’ll go from there” – but Theo Walcott and Hector Bellerin could be back.
“Bellerin could have played in Bulgaria,” said Wenger, “I think he should be alright.”
“The closest [of the others] to coming back, looks to be Walcott. He has a test today.”
Hopefully just smoke and mirrors
Cloaks and daggers
‘Touched on his shoulder’… Dear me, that lad is delicate.
Hopefully not touched by The Grim Reaper.
Mourinho?
About time we had some good Santa Claus news in November… #GetWellSanti#
Wait! Was Gibbs all made of Biscuit bones?
I think I want to contribute to the debate and mention that Gibbs looks like a young Obama.
Needed to be said.
Lol. When you see as many black people as I see here in Africa, you will conclude that he doesn’t look like Obama one bit.
So does that mean Ox looks like Obama too?
No…I look like Obama and so does my wife…
Looks more like a young Lenny Henry…
As long as he is a better footballer than Lenny Henry is at being a comedian all is well.
Since we’re on a roll finding lookalikes for our mixed race players, How about Walcott Vs. Craig David? They’re both from Southampton you know.
Barrack for him then. Loudly. off to work I go thinking of Spurs getting wasted. Alexis hat-trick in 5-0 demolition.
I just hope we sail through November and December free of any further injuries…
Who is our third choice left back? Holding?
Flamin…. oh bugger!
Gibbs should rest, Montreal should come back into the squad, I don’t want to panic when the ball approaches the left flanks.
Yes, not making you panic is Wenger’s top top priority
Having a Canadian City in the left back area will certainly slow down the opposition – espcially if they get caught in rush hour.
I don’t think US citizens would be happy with a Canadian filling in for the President though!!
I don’t think US citizens would be happy with a Canadian filling in for the President though!!
You can say that again!
Who would play left back if both Gibbs and Monreal are out ?
Comment:Gabriel used to play left back in Spain. I should think he would.
We’d draft Wilshere in to play left-back. *winks
I’ll play.
At training today, Walcott ready and raring to go, bellerin & nacho man, took part except contact session
