Walcott and Wilshere make England squad

Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere have been named in the England squad for the games against Scotland and Spain.

Walcott has been rewarded for his goal-scoring form, with 8 already this season he’s joint top scorer at Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Wilshere is back in the fold after his absence in August caused him to seek a move away from the club.

He played 90 minutes at the weekend as Bournemouth went down 2-1 to Sunderland.

There’s no place, however, for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who has scored five times this season, while Wayne Rooney is still involved so hahahahahahahaha.

Another fucking interlull. Sick of them.

Anonymarse

Last one till March at least

SB

All I wanted to make this Interlull a pleasurable one was a victory for us and a lose for ManU.

It feels as though the exact opposite happened today, although we only drew. Ignoring the shit ref, we had couple of good chances to have scored – Xhaka and Iwobi’s comes to mind. Sigh!

I hope the players are hurting similarly with the result. I don’t mind the performance, title winners grind out the result.

The footballing bodies really need to rethink this scheduling in my opinion because nobody actually cares about these qualifiers. Having them in the mix with the domestic fixtures is such a waste of time. Its bad for the players. The clubs. The fans. Utterly a waste of time – they should maybe look to rearrange all the International qualifiers at the end of the season or something, like have a 2 week period when all the games are just done and dusted, I think having it altogether like that would help the England set up too.

Even though Ox isn’t getting the minutes, he’s clearly a better player than Lingard who’s only known for his dabbing with Pogba!

BromleyGooner

I hate to give Man United any credit. Lingard is certainly no great player but he’s a better player than the Ox has been for the last couple of seasons

GoonerAbroad

I would say the opposite. Lingard ‘does a job’for man u. He’s not as talented as Ox, but he tracks back and does the simple stuff which allows the star players (which unfortunately for man utd include shrek and a dabbing N’Zonzi) to do their thing. he has also scored the winner in the last FA cup and Charity shield. I would take a limited but reliable Lingard over an Ox who, frankly, has been detrimental to this team for the past two seasons

loose_cannon

Agree in terms of what Lingard does for the team but no way I’d take him over Ox. Ox does need to find a way to improve though. He was looking solid last couple of games so I’m not going to read too much into his 20 minutes today

Santi's Flip Flop

“Dabbing N’Zonzi” – brilliant.

Matt

What’s Southgate seen Wilshere do at Bournemouth apart from nothing at all?!

Ebo

Play.

H2k

Unfortunately Bournemouth do not get much coverage on tv or even MOTD, so you have to go digging, but from what I have seen, he is very good and keeping the ball ticking over and on the move (which never gets much TV coverage whoever you play for) and trying some clever passes and being quite successful, but is being limited by some of the players around him.
Still not sure if it was the right move for him, but getting minutes is certainly helping.

Bould's Eyeliner

Yeah that’s like a 1000% improvement in of itself; he was being selected when he wasn’t playing so if he is… it really is a guaranteed spot isn’t it. It makes me really hope he continues to improve through this period and makes it big in an Arsenal shirt. We need Wilshere to naturally succeed Cazorla’s position, and I think that’s been the direction he’s going. We’ll soon have a setup like: Alexis Iwobi-Ozil-Walcott Coq-Wilshere Monreal-Mustafi-Koscielny-Bellerin SZCZNZNZZZZZZZ…….zzzz… Joking aside, Wilshere to feed through and long balls, or drive through to the box–he has the vision and the skills to bring… Read more »

Can’t help but feel this is a blessing in disguise for Ox, nothing but negativity surrounding England of late and this poppy fiasco is just the icing on the cake. Just hoping Walcott and Wilshere make it back in one piece!

Sideshow_bob

I’ve been following Bournemouth closely this season only coz of Wilshere. Tbh he’s done absolutely nothing to deserve this place, has been anonymous at times. Still not back to his best. Arter and Surman have been better than him, that says alot

Oxlade deserved a place after his good goal scoring form. Rooney? Really?

loose_cannon

Doesn’t he have the highest passing accuracy in the final third and one of the highest in the league in general? A few of weeks ago he was only second to Cazorla from what I understand. And from what I’ve seen, Bournemouth fans were raving about him. Never seen him play for them but the noises were all positive

Sideshow _bob

Stats can be really misleading man. I’m just stating whatever I see. Btw I’m a huge Wilshere fan. That’s the only reason I try to watch these Bournemouth matches. I feel he has much more potential than this so I except much more. Plus if you see our current CM options its absolutely frightening. You have to be really really good to displace the likes Cazorla Xhaka Ramsey and even El Neny

Sideshow _bob

This was his match report for the City match
“Interestingly, Wilshere was the only player to complete 100% of his passes, although the fact he only made 10 during his time on the pitch says a lot about City’s dominance”

He had only 21 touches throughout the match. Made 10 simple basic passes which he completed. So yeah as I said Stats can be very misleading. Anyway I’m hoping he kicks on and adds a few goals and assists to his name

loose_cannon

City game not a good example, Bournemouth got wrecked all over the pitch

Sideshow _bob

I didn’t mean it that way. Match is fine I just wanted to highlight that the stats can be misleading

Petit's Handbag

Keep your hands off Arter!! We haven’t many (any) good players as it is.

Anonymarse

Bournemouth fan?

The Car2n Goon

Is it just me or are many of the commentators on Arseblog News Fight Club fans? You’d think that was the case from all the pseudonyms like “Petite’s Handbag”, “Henry’s Left Foot” and “Bould’s Bald Patch”. If this is the case then I might just change mine to “Wenger’s Medulla Oblongata”. Lemme know chaps. I’m also as bi a fan of Fight Club as I am of Arsenal.

Jame55

You can’t be a Fight Club fan. You don’t even know the first two rules…

paul35mm

If you saw Bournemouth play and don’t understand why Wilshire was selected, then you don’t really understand the game. Wilshire’s been efficient, he’s been smart with the ball, he’s held possession well, and he keeps pushing Bournemouth forward. He’s not getting recognized because fans look at goals and lunging, scrambling helter-skelter effort as ‘good’ when those things usually mean a player is out of position and struggling to get back into plays. Wilshire’s been in the right places, he’s doing the job his mangers set out for him, and he’s staying on the pitch. People say the same sorts of… Read more »
