Arsene Wenger has channeled his inner Hot Chocolate by declaring both Arsenal and Hector Bellerin winners after the Spaniard signed a new long-term contract with the club.
The 21 year old has developed into one of the most exciting full backs in Europe, and after his future was secured, the Arsenal manager said it was a reward for the player’s talent and potential, and for Arsenal’s faith in him.
“He has a fantastic mentality and Arsenal has been fantastic for Hector as well because he went through some difficult moments in his career and we kept always faith in him,” said the Frenchman.
“On that front, Hector was loyal and envisages his career here and I think it’s a fantastic move for Hector and for the club. Both are winners in this deal.”
While hugely exciting going forward, Wenger was keen to play up how Bellerin has developed as a defender, his trademark pace allowing him to make crucial interventions.
“He has improved in his defensive responsibilities,” he said. “You see him now save dangerous situations in the central area of the centre backs.
“We have seen that again against Tottenham where he made a tackle inside the box nearly on the left side, because he has that potential for covering runs that are fantastic.
“He’s developed very well his defensive qualities and he is more offensive and much more decisive in his offensive game.
“His physical potential is absolutely huge, not only is he quick but he can repeat. He can put the volume and the intensity into his game and you do not meet that often in your career.”
Great news! Two things I’d like him to improve on:
Defensive awareness – still can get caught out at times which is understandable given he is still young. His blistering place does a lot to mask this and gives him the ability to recover.
Crossing – can definitely be improved. In fact as a team we’re pretty bad at crosses.
And to think we were only able to land him as a result of Fabregas wanting to leave due to DNA… football is a funny game.
Fabre-who?
Yea I know its classic humans to get hyped up really fast from small things, but I see Bellerin as a potential future captain (a la Cafu, Zanetti) since Wilsheres and Ramseys future in the clubs starting eleven are.. Well not so safe at the moment

Hesher, van scene, wait for the line “everyone’s a winner”
Wow, that was some description from Arsene
Get in!
Fantastic news.. Over to you, Mesut & Alexis!
The young Gunns have signed now over to you senior…..
I remember Jon Toral being considered as a more exciting player than Hector when they were signed. Sad that Jon Toral couldn’t live upto the hype due to injuries.
Great news!
