Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain faced the BT Sport cameras after Arsenal’s 5-1 victory at West Ham, here’s what he had to say…
On making a statement with such an emphatic win…
In the end, yeah. At one-nil at half-time we’d been wasteful with a few opportunities and it could have been more. They looked quite dangerous when they put the ball in the box. At one-nil at half-time we knew we needed to come out strong again because they were going to respond and in the end we did that because it was quite convincing.
On Alexis Sanchez…
He’s brilliant. He gives you that speed in behind and he’s one of those players, similar to an Aguero, where if you can get the ball up to him he can make things happen on his own. I think he did that with two of his goals today, he created them himself and finished them off brilliantly. That’s what he gives you. He’s an amazing player and it’s great to have him in the team.
On the Chilean’s quality rubbing off on the team…
We know we’re good on the counter. Especially in the second half the game opened up that way and let us break. Mesut and Alexis are always the first people that are turning and going in behind. Myself and Theo, we try and keep up with them and go around the outside and support them. We did that in the end, we had a few opportunities that we missed, I had a few that I missed. It could have been more. In the end, it was convincing, when they scored their goal it kicked us into life again and we were clinical and finished the game off.
On sending a message that Arsenal are title contenders…
We just need to keep winning games. We’re Arsenal Football Club. If people don’t expect us to be there or thereabouts then I think it’s disrespectful. We’ve got faith in ourselves. We want to be up there and if we keep getting results like today then we deserve to be up there. You never know what’s going to happen, we just need to keep plugging away. We’re going into December now, it’s going to be tough and today was the first step. We need to keep going.
No Ox. Alexis is not like Aguero.
He is a better overall player.
Stunning performance by AS7.
You should read the quote again. Ox says “he’s one of those players, similar to an Aguero, where if you can get the ball up to him he can make things happen on his own.”
That is true, Sanchez and Aguero both have that quality so I agree with Ox on that point 🙂 I agree with you too tho. Alexis is a better overall player
Look i love alexis but aguero has something he doesn’t…….the ability to carry out hilarious hatchet tackles on side show bob thus ruling himself out of the arsenal game ???
Alexis is better than Aguero, he doesn’t ge the praise he deserve, imagine Vardy picked in the fifa best?what can he do to empress these people?Arsenal has players better than the choices this year, but we know the hate,
Agree!!
Funny moment of the match………..Carroll celebrating like the big twat he is, just before we scored another couple………..Absolutely Fukin Priceless!!
the only trouble I have with that is that the big twat always scores against us
He is the embodiment of anti football
he may be the anti-Christ but we shouldn’t have let let score from a rebound…
Get your decision making sorted lad and you can be just as deadly
Keep this up Alexander, and you might just have the young’uns talk about you in a few years the way you talk about Alexis.
A big thank you to Barcelona as well. Thank you for the business.
You can have all the Songs and Vermaelens, just keep giving us the Sanchezs and Bellerins
Dont forget the Hlebs
To be fair though, Hleb did admit his mistake and showed his regret. Can’t hate him for that. He thought that Barca would further his career and success. It didn’t, it happens, that’s football.
oh “Lord Bendtner”
What rhymes!
I agree again…….
Ox is fast improving and I think he could be about to have a great season.
Hes very close, very close indeed.
The reason why ox has possibly been our most frustrating player is because of performances like today. We all know what he can do. He came inside he went outside he played one twos he beat players. Him and Sanchez were unplayable. Add Theo’s pacecand ozil’s flare and West Ham were powerless to stop us.
We are Arsenal Football Club
Love it!
With all due respect for the media. I think we deserve another post match interview from Alexis. Just like the other one.
I am just glad that the Ox is playing with confidence again. Once he has his game sorted, watch out!
That goal from the Ox, woof! A personal STFU to Andy Carroll.
Loved the Ox today, he was always positive with and without the ball. I’m hoping this game could be the turning point in his career because he has so much ability – he just needs to be consistent now.
What an emphatic win for us. I loved that. West Ham United continued to receive more and more and more and moreee as Tim puts it.
It was total destruction for WHU.
Big Up Alexis “The Hatrick Hero” Superb from all Gunners too. Not forgetting my source of visionary Ozil. Ox..too selfish but wat a way to score. I thought I was playing Score Hero!
“We’re Arsenal Football Club. If people don’t expect us to be there or thereabouts then I think it’s disrespectful.”
Comment: WE ALL IN THE FOOTBALL WORLD HV BEEN TALKING ABOUT MESSI, RONALDO, OZIL ECT ECT, BUT FOR SANCHEZ HIS WORLD CLASS QUALITY IS NEARER THAT WILL MAKE US FOR GET ABOUT MESSI’S NAME. WATCH OUT.
It looks like Alexis’s hunger and ability is rubbing off well on others- Ox a case in point.
Perspective people!
This is a West Ham side that only managed a draw on their day out to Maureen’s Donkey Sanctuary.
