Fair point about Giroud.
We were incredibly narrow in a game where overlapping runs would have been a great way to drag their players out of the box and create some space. Actually we could see some of that when Ramsey came on.
Iwobi and Ozil got in each other’s way for the most part.
I felt that by playing giroud, all he it a fantastic striker on his day was detrimental to the overall performance. Hardly did we cross and adapt to playing with a target man. I will always prefer a more mobile no9. However if we do choose to play giroud, put balls in, go wide and spread play, don’t play him into feet when they’re playing 6-3-1. What all does the refuse pile over James’ left shoulder contain, beyond the obviously stylish yellow cat pillow?
Personally, I feel that a home match against a Pulis team is exactly the kind of match you want Giroud in. There’s no enough space for mobile strikers, as the opposing team is likely to park the bus, dig a moat and then proceed to build a Trumponian wall right in front of the goal.
Bottom line: I don’t think we would have been particularly fluid with or without Giroud today.
