It’s Premier League action today as we face Swansea at the Liberty Stadium, looking for three important points.

would rather Sanchez up front and Lucas on right. Giroud on bench can be handfall coming on. I know he has scored recently but feel we have lost our fluency.
We weren’t fluent against Man City or Everton either. It’s an oversimplification to blame it on Giroud coming into the side.
Not an oversimplification. There’s no doubt that we have played our best football when Sanchez had played up front the season. It might have hit a couple bumps but even in our best seasons had some blips on the radar. Just seemed so awful this year because of Chelsea’s crazy record

You must be one of those fan that don’t rate giroud at all, he saved as several times in the last games and scored in very important games, also assisted.
i dont think theres anything wrong with what he said. we were playing our best football when we were playing with sanchez as the striker. him dropping off and others coming in to the space he vacated made our entire game unpredictable. best thing about that was alexis was only one amoung our goalscorers other than walcot and ozil. with giroud we can only play one way , it might be working for now because giroud is scoring goals , but once girouds form tails off arsenal will be very easy to stop.
Yes that may have been the best football up until the strategy got figured out and teams adjusted. Everyone complains when we did the same thing every game last season, though it was due mainly to lack of options, but now that we do and change our tactics it’s also something to complain about
The loss of fluency is also heavily linked with both Cazorla and Walcott.

give that guy a break. since he started to play in the centre midfield against preston his whole game changed. its not just the goal , he was popping up in dangerous places and making the kind of runs that made him one of the best player in 2013/14 season.

I think Giroud is a great player on sensational form but our game can become slow-paced, predictable and one-dimensional with him as a starter. He’s pretty much undropable right now for Wenger based on form, but I’m sure he’s bound to revert to Alexis on front once Walcott is fit – our movement with him occupying space vacated by Alexis makes us a handful and so unpredictable.
on another note why are we not trying with 3 man defence. i think our squad is best positioned to take advantage of this formation. 3 man midfield of xhaka(cazorla)-coquelin(elneny)-ramsey(iwobi) will give the ramsey xhaka their best positions and lets ramsey free. or we could try 3 man forward of chamberlein-alexis-walcot or two man striker partnership of giroud-alexis. literally the possibilitied are endless if we try it. only thing holding us back from trying this formation is ozil and wengers reluctance to try something new. its obvious we need some kind of change , maybe a formation change could make… Read more »
