Laurent Koscielny has called on Arsenal to keep their best players after putting pen-to-paper on his new deal.
While speculation over the futures of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez continues to circulate, the Gunners vice-captain, along with compatriots Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin, today committed his future to the club.
Reflecting on why he chose to stay at the Emirates, the France international highlighted the hunger of the current squad and the stability his family has found in London.
“I feel very happy to continue my adventure with this club,” Koscielny told Arsenal Player. “It’s been seven years and I have more [hopes] for the future with this team.
“I’m pleased for my family to live in London, for me to play for this club.
“I have everything here to be happy on and off the pitch, so that’s why I decided to continue my adventure with Arsenal.
“When you are a footballer, it’s not just about football, it’s about your life. Arsenal are a big part of my life. My children were born in London, a big part of my life, and my life’s changed since they were born.
“They are happy with their life in London, they love Arsenal and my children are always excited when they are going to the Emirates to watch a game. It’s the best thing I can have.
He added: “We will progress every year but we need to push more. The team has stayed the same and we don’t have many players coming or going from the club, so it’s important to keep our best players at the club.
“We want to win together, so we will do everything we can to succeed.”
Let’s hope the positive vibes filter through to you know who…
amen to that
Huge respect for our Kos! I hope he gets the chance to wear the armband while lifting the PL or CL trophy!
*and
Respect. Great player and to quote Arsene, ‘A joy to watch’.
Great news. It is not only about Sanchez and Ozil. The three Musketeers remain loyal.
The respect that Kos has for the club and it’s fans is obvious when you hear him speak or read transcripts of interviews- the younger players at the club could do a lot worse in having such a model professional to learn from.
Arsenal Legend
Its been 7 years already?!?! FML how time flies
I vividly remember he’s debut, he got sent off and i thought he was dodgy and Chamakh helped get the equalizer and i thought he was a good.
Shows how much i know 🙂
We managed to keep you Kosh. The best and most important player of Arsenal.
The most consistent anyway…
Laurent you Legend, so glad that you Ollie and The Coq have all signed once more. We are so close to achieving, would be a crying shame if certain players don’t join you. COYG!!!!!
Voldemort does need to lighten up a bit. Great news about the contract extensions.
Meanwhile Manu extended with Fellaini. HAHAHAHAHA!
They looked around in the market, but just couldn’t find anyone with so many elbows…
Top man, Lolo. It shows in the emphasis he puts on his family’s happiness. He’s also talked about parenthood in ways many of us can relate to.
An absolute legend. I have utmost respect for him and think he is the best and the most consistent player we have. And now this interview made me respect him even more. Captain fantastic!!!
‘We will progress each year but we need to push more’
Couldn’t agree more sir.
And we have …Allez! Giroud, Coquelin and Koscielny. Its a diminishing French presence but they are truly the spine. Ironically they are also the fighters you turn to drag us out of the mire when the chips are down, contrary to what the media will have you believe with temperamental Frenchies and Dogged Englishmen. Remember when Sagna pulled us off the floor against Spurs. Koscielny endured a poor first season to become one of the best defenders now in the league. in that context, worth noting Mustafi has bedded in very well considering although put in context to the price… Read more »
Sorry if I missed this, but I don’t see anywhere that said how long they signed for. Does anyone know the lengths of each of their new contracts?
In the end, he will go down as one of Arsene Wenger’s top 5 signings of all time at Arsenal. Gets better every single season and is a leader by example. He could walk into the starting CB position of any club in England and possibly Europe atm. So happy he re-sogned. A true in sing hero if the club. Just needs some more silverware now to cement his Arsenal legacy!
Kos just has to be among everyone’s favourite 10 Arsenal players of all time.
God, I love this man.
With the quality he exhibits and that remarkable consistency, it’s hard to think no other club has come calling or knocking at his door. And yet, there’s never a fuss with his contract, he keeps his head down and gets on with it. He truly loves this club.
Now that’s a name and number for the back of my shirt. Never lets us down.
