Mesut Ozil has described himself as very comfortable* in London after he was awarded the German Player of the Year award for the fifth time.
The Arsenal playmaker received almost 55% of the vote to finish ahead of second placed Toni Kroos, and he spoke afterwards of his pride and life in the Premier League.
“Obviously I was very happy to have received this award,” he said. “It is not the award itself that is important to me — if I may say that — but that so many fans on the Internet give me your vote makes me a bit proud.
“And for that I can only thank all fans.”
With negotiations ongoing over extending his Arsenal contract, which expires in June 2018, he continued, “I’ve remained injury-free for the most part and I feel very comfortable in London now as well.
“I have a changed few things in the last year, for example, my diet and training. This helps me to regenerate faster after games and reduces the vulnerability.”
Ozil has scored 9 goals this season, his best tally to date in an Arsenal shirt, and he returned to action on Saturday after a bout of illness kept him sidelined for a couple of weeks.
If Arsenal are to stay in the title race, they’ll need him to be at his best in the coming weeks.

*don’t be the guy who takes this phrase, used to show he’s happy with his life in London, to make a snarky comment about him being ‘too comfortable’ or ‘in a comfort zone’ or some tedious tripe like that. Rise above.
There’s few more beautiful sights in football than Ozil gliding in behind the defence and applying a silky finish. May we see that many more times this season!
And the next (season )…..
I’ll say amen to that thank you!
Congratulations!
Top player for a top nation.
Not many better players in the world than that.
*—–>lol
I’m sure London is comfortable that Özil is comfortable in London and I’m very comfortable with that.
I think Ramsey would agree with me in saying you’ve said that ever so well.
I like how he was dropping deep and switching with rambo against the swans.. Something that could work quite well for us I reckon.
We’ve got Ozil… I don’t think you understand
🙂 yes john cross, i hope that asterix is aimed at you
