Arsene Wenger says he’s delighted to have Danny Welbeck back in his squad, and says the England man looks like he’s never been away.
Welbeck had been out since last April, when he suffered a knee injury at Man City, but made his comeback in the 2-1 win over Preston the FA Cup earlier this month.
And on his return, the Arsenal manager has tipped him to get back to his best.
“Some players have big injuries and you observe them in the first three months and you think, ‘my friend, you will struggle’ because they have a handbrake,” he said.
“But some players come back like they have never been injured and he is one of them.
“He is a young, promising striker – he has a fantastic spirit and people sense that. He is genuine, committed and humble and you do not find that too many times together.
“He has pace, good technique and is committed – he wants to help the team. He is a good finisher as well and before he got injured you could see that was coming out.”
Welbeck is likely to be on the bench again as the Gunners face Burnley on Sunday.
Welcome back!
Dat Guy
Great to have him back, he’s been a big miss.
Top player who offers us something different and is now coming into his peak years.
An absolute snip at £16mill.
Such a useful player to have around. No argument. A lot more skillful and gifted than a lot of fans believe…
You see Welllbeck, and Ox, they have exceptional physical attributes like strength, speed and then they have very good technical attributes, like ball control, dribbling, and so on. I for one would think they can do better, should do better, if only they could hone and train their mental attribute, like decision making, flair, coolness in front of goal.
So, you play football manager or used to? Meh, the categorizing!
Activate Long Throw-in Trait
Activate Bicycle Kick Trait
Well yes I did, but the game is based on the actual athletes attributes, it’s not a total fiction. Simplification, maybe.
And to think we got him for 16 million, what a bargain.
When we first acquired Welbeck I was hoping he would be a huge success that we could rub in Manure fan’s faces. Instead, flashes of excellence aside, he has been another entry on our extensive list of players who have failed to live up to their potential due to long-term injury. In all honesty it’s been a disappointing outcome so far which has not justified the price tag.
I really have my fingers crossed this time around that he is able to stay fit and reach his potential. What a massive boon for the club that would be.
Fucking love Welbeck. Glad to see him back. Hopefully he scores against United to sink their lofty ambitions of finishing any higher than 6th.
6th place wankers.
Did he really say “because they have a handbrake”?!?!? That is just too classic-Wenger to be true. Surely this is Blogs’ satire, once again.
Aye, classic Wenger. Classic Wenger because he says it all the time. Like to day. That’s kinda how things become classic, by sticking around and being kinda good. Has to be at least a little endearing.. like if I was to a sarky prick on this website for the next 20 years he folk wouldn’t be like ‘That’s classic PeteyB’ they’d be like ‘That PeteyB is a right cunt’. A bit like fat gooner.
Aye. I reckon when he retires, AFC should present him a golden handbrake.
Let’s do it boys. So far, weekend results have been in our favour
Loving the options Perez and Welbeck give us across the front three.
A great rotation option right now. I hope we get a nice big early lead so Perez and Welbeck can come on early.
I’m glad he’s did this. There was a real sense of “…….fuck” when he got injured last year.
I really really wanted to hate him when he came from that Devils hole they call United. But time and time again he has shown how great a talent, commitment and humility he has. I really hope he can get rid of all the injuries because in my opinion he might be the one in our team with the most unfulfilled potential.
Imagine a front 3 of …wellbeck…Sanchez..perez
or Wellbeck-Alexis-Walcott ?
