Olivier Giroud’s impressive form has Arsene Wenger purring with satisfaction.
In the space of 14 days the France international has scored a late winner against West Bromwich Albion, stunned Crystal Palace with his acrobatic scorpion kick, spearheaded an unlikely comeback at Bournemouth and scored the decisive goal against Preston North End to send Arsenal into the fourth round of the FA Cup.
“He can’t stop scoring,” Arsène Wenger told Arsenal Player after the win at Deepdale on Saturday.
Giroud now has 91 goals for Arsenal and is only four behind Theo Walcott as both men close in on their respective centuries. The Frenchman’s scoring rate at the Emirates is now a 0.44 goals per game during his four and a half years – not too shabby for a player who arrived from Montpellier in the shadow of Lukas Podolski.
Long may his handsome form continue.
Good service?? Was I watching the same game?
That’s what I was thinking. He never gets good service unless we need a goal in the last ten minutes and then people realise oh I might fucking cross it.
Long may it continue
Giroud’s form not the rest of the team …
Don’t understand the downvotes we’ve been shite recently
Shite about 50-75% of each game at any rate
Apparently we failed on our bid for some Italian striker whom I’ve never heard of and now there are all sorts of articles saying how world class he is.
Sounds like bullshit
8.5 ?
against which teams exactly?
bayern ,barca??!!
Ah well
Plan B? 😀 I mentioned before it would be silly to only commit GIroud as a late sub. YOu need him on the pitch as long as possible. He’s more than just an aerial asset. As I have mentioned, he is no detriment to Alexis also playing and scoring. But he is also a conduit for the more mobile players around him to work their way off of him (wall passes and one twos) and into the box. His repertoire now includes the scorpion kick which it was Zlatan (with the same prerequisite amount of luck) the media will be… Read more »
Giroud is playing very well. Sharing the leading role with Alexis seems to have stirred something in our HFB. I do hope he manages a hundred goals for the club.
Gosh..I think i’m a bit more optimistic now.

Giroud has always been good, but has not always had the service, notably last season when Sanchez came back from injury and decided he wasn’t going to pass the ball, just try and walk it into the net himself. Don’t know why some of you were blind to this and are still are to this day!
This season Sanchez has 7 assists so far, leading the team. He’s had some memorable assists to Ozil in particular.
I’d be interested to try out Henry’s suggestion of playing a 4-3-1-2 with Giroud and Sanchez leading the line. Sure it would be a little less defensive in the CDM area, but I’d like to see it, see if it works…
Giroud has always been a great player for Arsenal even though some people fail to realize that. He makes the Arsenal tick. He defends, he presses, he scores and is involved. People criticize him for his pace yet those known for pace hardly use it. When Olivier plays he not only scores goals but also comes in with his fair amount of assists. Last year had the second most assist for the Arsenal coupled with the MOST goals. So I am always shocked when people do not want him playing. OG to the world but the world is just not… Read more »
Giraud has a better scoring rate than Eric scumbag Cantona, I’ll just leave it at that thank you
He’s an impressive captain, too. La la la la! 😀
