Lincoln City await Arsenal or Sutton in FA Cup quarter-finals

If Arsenal beat non-League Sutton United tomorrow evening they will face Lincoln City at the Emirates in the quarter-finals.

Lincoln are currently top of the Conference Premier, the same division as Sutton, and reached the quarter-finals after an amazing 1-0 win against Burnley at Turf Moor.

The quarter-finals will take place across the weekend 10/11/12 March which means our home Premier League game with Leicester will be rearranged.

That, in turn, would mean we endure a 50-day wait between home Premier League games. Our last was against Hull on 11 Feb, our next won’t be until 1 April. Mad at this time of the season.

Full draw

Chelsea vs Manchester United

Middlesbrough vs Huddersfield or Manchester City

Tottenham Hotspur vs Millwall

Chelsea vs Man U and Spuds go up against Millwall.

All in all not too shabby a draw for us.

Dam

Why do we always get the toughest draws

IamaGoober

I want the Eddie Hearn route to the final, just total rub outs the whole way to Wembley.

I want a nice easy cup final win so Arsene can bow out.

PeteyB

Why is it that I worry that we are one classic arsenal performance away from headlines of ‘Non league semifinalist guaranteed’

Anonymarse

Hopefully united beat chelsea, spurs beat united and we beat spurs in the final

Spurs going out to milwall woild be funny too

Paul

I’d like to beat Spurts in the semi (most painful to go out in the semi) and beat Maureen in the final!

Godfrey Twatschloch

Always painful to go out with a semi. Hate it when that happens.

Tony

You’re still talking about football right?

Pedant

Hurts the most to get beaten by a cock.

Mourinho or Sp*rs.

Anonymarse

I don’t know if we could overtake them in the league on the final day and then score in the 95th minute of the FA cup final to beat them i think that would be ideal 🙂

Roswelch

95th min!!! Someone does not value their health. I’ll take 8 goals in the first 20 min. Thank you

Anonymarse

It would really suck for them though

Paul

Really pleased for Lincoln and us!

Hadvar

Yeah, Lincoln and Sutton have made this years cup mildly more interesting than usual. Respect to them for getting this far, and I sincerely hope their fans are enjoying it, this sort of thing doesn’t come along very often for clubs like them. Having said that, it’s now time for them both to be thrashed. Real bad. Medieval style punishment. Rugby, or even Cricket scores.

Frustrated

Wahoo, another game we have a chance in.

Pedant

When will Arsene ever get a break? Sutton then Lincoln, life is too cruel.

Anonymarse

We’ve been really unlucky with the draw this year

Paul

Yes we have with missing out on the home draw against Sutton and that, but this has evened up our luck imo. 😉

insider9

This will give a massive boost to Sutton United. Surely the draw should be made once all the teams have played. Let’s hope we treat them seriously and get the job done tomorrow.

Andy

Fuck jinxing, if we can’t beat a non league team we might as well make fucking Tim Sherwood the manager!!!!

Mpls

Oh sweet jeebus. I forgot about that altogether!
Good laugh!

Christopher Wreh

I’m Arsenal mad, always have been but I’m from Lincoln. Used to go and watch them at home games, even helped out selling programmes. I moved to London 8 years ago but still keep an eye out for their results every week.

Really strange feeling for me this one, going to have to try and get a ticket, weird spectacle.

Believe me, the whole city is buzzing about their cup run, and their reward is a big game at the emirates, fair play.

This is all relative though, we have to beat Sutton tomorrow…

David Hillier's luggage

Question is, ticket in the home or away end?

Good Omens

How strange Christopher, I’m a life long Arsenal fan originally from West Hampstead, I however moved to Lincoln 19 years ago. I’ve been so caught up in LCFC’s run as everyone who lives here has, it has been amazing for the city especially after the last 6 or 7 years of mediocrity. Of course (given that the boys come through against Sutton) there is only one team I would want to win that semi and go all the way and it isn’t the team from my adopted town… I will admit to having my heart just a little torn on… Read more »

I have to ask why is my previous comment awaiting moderation ? There isn’t anything in it that is remotely offensive to anyone.

Paul

Maybe because it’s a quarter not a “semi” who knows?

Good Omens

Aye well in fairness, I noticed that too after I posted, that’s what comes with typing your thoughts out at pace with no edit feature. 😉

Paul

True 🙂

Mpls

I’ve even tried testing keywords on a lark. No luck. Sometimes it seems absolutely random. Maybe blogs doesn’t like Pratchett, who knows!

Paul

Bought my wife a first edition signed Terry Pratchett book for Christmas.

Paul

That went through straight away…

Arsepedant

Christopher, I’m having the same issues today! My non-league club has always been Sutton – I used to go to school two blocks from the ground. In a way, I can’t lose. One of my teams will win today! But I do hope it’s Arsenal.

I’m in with the Suttons fans, so I have to wear my Sutton jersey and hope no-one’s offended by my Arsenal jacket. But at least I’m there!

Mississippi Gunner

I wanted to see Lincoln City go all the way against all odds. Now I want to see them fuckin smashed ruthlessly once we beat Sutton.

chippy's chip

IF

chippy's chip

So the word ‘IF’ reguires moderation? Feck you arseblog. Im OUT.

chippy's chip

Thought ‘requires’ was a keyword banned.

Paul

Have you been drinking tonight? 🙂

chippy's chip

I wish. Im just drunk on life mate.

chippy's chip

The moderation of life!!!!

shokim

Good draw for us and Lincoln. We need to go all out tomorrow vs Sutton.

Jimbo1

That’s right. Don’t take anything for granted. Get the job done and think about Lincoln afterwards.

el-bahja

Fair draw I would say In my opinion

Shank

Finally , a few games at our own level.

Paul

Spat my beer out mate! 🙂

Alex

Especially as Özil will surely not play, so we can do it!

Cheesed off

He will be on the pitch though lol think the semi finals will comprise Arsenal, chavs, spuds and scum city

Mogy

Lets hope that if we get knocked out, it will be against a premier league team. It will just be too embarrassing if its not

Shank

And you can thumb that down as much as you want.

Nasris wallet

In my opinion this is a fair draw.
Thank you

Paul

It’s a good draw but how the fuck did we not secure a home tie against Sutton??
Wenger out!

900ftGooner

Don’t we go to Anfield on 4 March? Therefore not a 50-day gap between league fixtures?

Paul

Home fixtures

900ftGooner

Ah

Nathan

50 day gap between home league fixtures 🙂

Paul

Is it?

Aleksander Włodarz

Arsenal first need to beat Sutton – remember ? it could be tricky tomorrow on a plastic pitch …let’s hope no injuries and a win – but it won’t be easy , no way

catbiscuits

If it’s not easy to beat a non-league team we might as well all go home.

Kevin of j town

Good draw….For man utd and chelski

H2k

If Arsenal do go on to win the FA Cup, you know the media will be turning around and saying “they had an easy draw”

shokim

A win is a win. We don’t care what the biased media will be sure to say.

Herewegoagain

Easy? Tell that to Burnley fans!
Sutton won 3-1 at Lincoln earlier this season.
We beat Burnley in 95th minute, Lincoln beat Burnley in 89th.
Tight call.?

Mind you Sutton’s recent FA Trophy defeat at Boreham Wood, 0-5, gives us some hope.
Robbie Savage and Chris Sutton saying Sutton have no chance takes that hope away!

Lord Bendnter

Is it too much to ask for a Man City Sp*rs quarter final as well?

Lord Bendnter

Oops just realized a major flaw in my comment. I forgot Man City had a replay…
Hopefully Huddersfield destroy Sp*rs in that quarter final

Jp

What a draw. Surely, SURELY, we’re going to the semis? I’m actually getting slightly anxious now and it’s ridiculous, should be a banker but we always make things hard for ourselves. Just come on lads, no messing about, no waiting until the second half to start playing and please don’t gift them a stupid goal, giving them hope, just be professional tomorrow and get the job done.

podb

What a great draw for Arsene. Almost like the football gods were conferring. I reckon he’ll go one more year, then take over England/France/Brazil after 2018 World Cup?

O2ba

We’ll how strange. I was born in plumstead lived for a while in lincoln though I have no doubt who I’ll be supporting. I’ll be in my usual seat in the north bank thank you COYG!

Cyganmyster

This was made in 2009!!!! IT crowd complaining about Walcott and Wenger!! THE FKING IT CROWD!!! Even they know what was wrong with Arsenal!!! we are now in 2017!! Wenger and Walcott are still!!!

Sancheezy

Win the FA Cup against Sp*rs in the final and finish 3rd below them or finish 2nd in the league and lose an FA Cup final against Sp*rs but finish above them?

I hate any loss against Sp*rs but WOW this is a possibility.

I really hope Chelsea lose. No way in hell I’d want to win the double this year.

Silent Stan

Is 50 days between home league matches a record for a) Arsenal or b) The Premier League?

Paul

C) A blessed relief? 🙂
