Wenger reveals latest team news ahead of Man City clash

Arsene Wenger has provided the latest team news update as we prepare to face Man City on Sunday.

The Gunners have won just one of their last five Premier League games, and now face a real battle to make the Champions League places this season.

Some of the players have been away on international duty, and ruled out of the the game are Petr Cech  – who picked up a calf problem against West Brom two weeks ago – and Lucas Perez.

On the Spaniard, Wenger confirmed it was a ‘thigh problem’, and asked when Cech might be back in action, he said, “He could miss Wednesday against West Ham, but should be available for next weekend.

Asked about Alexis Sanchez, who played twice for Chile after suffering an ankle injury at The Hawthorns, he confirmed there had been no ligament damage.

“We got a message from him,” he said, “it was just a kick and when the swelling went down he could play normally.”

And there was some bad, but not particularly surprising news, regarding Santi Cazorla. Asked if there was any update, Wenger said, “Unfortunately no, it looks like the season is over for him.”

Everyone else appears to be all right, so the manager has some selection decisions for the weekend, and confirmed that Mesut Ozil is back in contention to start against City.

Some good news would be great. 3 points would be massive.

could be a really fun game too considering both team’s defence are as leaky as an unstanched wench.

I just can’t feel anyway positive about this all…

Well, it’s that time of the year, putting on that winning run into Champions League place
Normally, I’m not too excited for our champions league spot push, but this season I’m feeling nervous. Usually, at this time of the season, our players at least show the attitude and effort on the pitch. However, with the past few fixtures, I wonder if even some of the players are tired for this almost ceremonial push for 2nd to 4th
Still, hoping for max points, need that champions league spot to make some serious potential signings too

Erm, am I missing something? I thought Santi had already been ruled out for the season ages ago?

That time Abou Diaby kicked John Terry in the head

Please play Sanchez at the top.

Really gutted for Carzola! He will be sorely missed on the pitch and in the dressing room. I can still remember that free kick at the FA cup final. He was key to the team’s success. People are so quick to forget the dynamics of this team and listen to any negative news they hear when things don’t go their way.

They’d be something wrong if you couldn’t remember. Was only a couple of years ago

Santi , Tomas risiscky and jack w. No longer there to pick from , And Sanchez in midfield as he usually plays up front . And ozil was previously injured. The bad patch creatively makes some sense. With ozil’ back and Sanchez flying and sharp for chile -time to bounce back!!!

Ca-ZOR-la. He’s only been here half a decade. Learnhow to spell his name. It’s not hard.

Everything aside, it’d be just great if we fucked City up.

Ahhh! It’s way over the top but what if Alexis left for Chelski next season and we end up winning a treble with Chelski coming 4th in the league table? That would be poetry… Pure poetry.

To the game on Sunday, I just hope we not only win them, I hope we tear them a new one, in performance and of course goals. That would strengthen or improve the confidence of the players

Mike Dunne

Wenger is good but I can’t help the feeling that the team are not up to the fight. I hope I am wrong
