Hector Bellerin says that he feels 100% over his ankle problems, and that he’s ready to play in the U21 European Championships this summer.
The Spaniard has suffered a dip in form this season, partly due to ongoing ankle issues, and last week Arsene Wenger said he thought it would be better for him to rest this summer and come back fresh for the new season.
“It is not ideal after a long season,” he said.
“He should have a rest and prepare for next season. The Spanish players love to play for their country, and I think he will go as he loves to play for Spain.”
However, speaking after the 2-1 win over Man City in the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, Bellerin seemed determined to play if called up by manager Albert Celades.
“I really want to play in the European Under 21,” he told IB Times.
“Representing Spain is very important. If Celades gives me the chance I’ll be there.”
And on his recent spell out of the team, usurped in the last couple of games at right wing-back by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, he said he’d wait for his chance to show what he can do.
“The truth is that I had a difficult injury but I think that I am at 100% now and I’ll try to prove it when I get the chance,” he said.
“I am here for when the manager needs me. I am ready to play in every formation and wherever, I will be ready for when the boss decides to give me the opportunity.”
Great attitude, Hector. Please sort out your hair though. It’s a disgrace.
It used to be so lustrous a enviable.
Sagna had bizarre hair style while playing for us. Is this Arsenal right back thing? Debuchy too tried some sort of crest in the middle of the head. Lauren used to braid his hairs which was OK. What will Maitland-Niles come up with ?
An ear-to-ear Mohawk? 😉
He should go–has plenty left in the tank it seems, and he could still benefit from match experience. Wenger may be reorganizing something this summer, and obviously Bellerin is part of his plans. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see in September..
Potentially great player, speedy, intelligent and great control. Look forward to seeing him progress.
Only I can have that name.
Dude, you come in to every thread saying how great your name is.
This is why after many years I changed to Original Paul…
Bellerin should be dropped for “stylistic” reasons
Why are people so stupid agreeing with an idiotic comment about his hair style ?
Dropped from the bench? Lol
Hair styles didn’t stop some of the best players in the history of the sport from being the best players in the history of the sport. The guy is 20 years old, let him do to his hair whatever he wants and let’s judge him based on his performance and commitment to our club, which no one can argue has been way above what was expected from him.
Top man and top talent, the guy is a potential future arsenal captain.
Crumbs lol what has he done with his hair now? Not sure scarecrow blonde suits him ?
It’s better than that execrable man-bun was.
But will he be ready for the opportunity to get rid of his dodgy barnet?
If we continue to play our new system, how does Wenger play him with the Ox on form in that position? Personally I’d play him wing back and move the Ox in-field. Surely Ramsey ‘should’ be dropped and is running out of chances by now, but Wenger does persist with him. The Ox really seems to have turned the corner and is quickly becoming one of my favourite players. I suppose a bit of rotation will be applied, so hopefully Giroud gets the day off. He’s better then given credit for and useful as an impact sub. Plus i’m not… Read more »
I would like to see us pick up a left back, a Cazorla replacement, and an out-and-out striker. My first choice for striker would be Kylian Mbappe from Monaco, no matter what he costs.
I will change my name to Phil Collins the twat from Genesis if we sign Mbappe this summer
I like the cut of your jib.
Mbappe is the closest thing to king Henry, I’m down with that.
Looks sort of like Pires in that picture
That bad hair is part of Hector’s plan to discourage Barca from approaching him.
