It’s Premier League action for us tonight as we seek our first win since February when we take on West Ham at the Emirates.
Having drawn 2-2 with Man City on Sunday, Arsene Wenger needs his team to go better this evening as we try and stay in the hunt for a top four place.

If we win our two matches in hand, we are 2 points behind Liverpool with 7 match days to go. 2 points behind Liverpool without Mane is not impossible, come on. This team can definitely do it if they actually care.

As much as I appreciate the HFB, if we’re going to clone someone Giroud wouldn’t be the first comes to my mind.
That aside, seems like a smart lineup with what we have available to me. Giroud to help defend set pieces, speed and goal threat on the wings, and Elneny gets a run out. Haven’t seen anything from BFG to know he’s ready, and Gabs can handle physicality. Hopefully Ozil is getting his legs and touch back.

Hmm. Mobile front 3 then, let’s hope he can be as effective defending corners and we get a chance to see what he can do with better service.

Mustafi – Gabriel is a disaster waiting to happen. Mertsacker or Holding should have started alongside Mustafi. 3 points or wenger resigns this night
I agree with your first two sentences. I’d have had Mertesacker in there to help deal with Carroll – although Martinez is a big tall lad too.

In what minute should I expect to see Carroll shove Martinez in the back and into his own goal when he jumps and catches a West Ham corner, the referee award the goal, and the commentator to remark that it was “an old fashioned English center forwards challenge” and “the young ‘keeper has to be tougher there”?

Xhaka was excellent today.
Glad Elneny is starting. I think given a run of games, he could really blossom into a lynchpin for the side. Sure, he can be accused of being conservative, but he looks like a steely character who would be more adventurous with game time (that pass to Ozil for the Ludogorets goal that seems so far away now).
A midfield three of Xhaka, Elneny and The Ox, with Perez, Alexis and Welbeck (though I’m slightly torn between him, Ozil and Walcott for the third attacker role) should be our team whenever The Ox is back, imho.
Entirely different team to the last few weeks. So far as good!
