According to the Mirror, Arsenal will offer Chilean trialist Marcelo Allende a permanent contract now that he has turned 18-years-old.
The Gunners have been following the young attacking midfielder for a couple of years and it’s claimed he’s impressed members of the first team during three short spells at London Colney this year.
As you might expect, given the teenager’s nationality, labels such as the ‘new Alexis Sanchez’, ‘baby-faced Salas’, ‘pre-pubescent Pellegrino’, ‘mini Medel’ and our favourite ‘the zesty Zamorano’ have been thrown into the mix.
Apparently, though the Arsenal players plumped for ‘Chile’ as his nickname…nice one guys.
It’s unlikely we’ll see Allende in an Arsenal shirt in the near future. The Chile under-20 international, currently on the books of second-tier Deportes Santa Cruz, could be handed a squad number for pre-season but work permit issues are likely to mean he spends time in Europe on loan.
We can see the headlines already…
“Gunners Allende Marcelo to [x]” / “[x] snaps up Allende on Marceloan”
Welcome!
Welcome and good luck!
Wake me up when we get someone who can slot into the first team and improve it.
Ensuring Sanchez feels at home here for the next 4-5 seasons? Someone form his native country to speak to in case he decides to stay at the end of his contract.
Yes i only make friends with people from my own country.
Good news, fingers crossed he gets a looked after on loan and racks up a good amount of playing time, and not end up another Samuel Galindo or Wellington Silva 🙁
Fucking work permit issues.
