It’s Premier League action tonight as we look to follow up the weekend win over Manchester United with a first league win at St Mary’s since 2003.
It’s Southampton v Arsenal, here are the official line-ups.
Southampton: Forster, Cedric, Stephens, Yoshida, Bertrand, Romeu, Davis, Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Redmond, Gabbiadini.
Subs: Hassen, Caceres, Long, Boufal, Pied, Hojberg, Rodriguez
Arsenal: Cech, Holding, Mustafi, Monreal, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Xhaka, Gibbs, Alexis, Ozil, Welbeck
Subs: Ospina, Gabriel, Bellerin, Coquelin, Iwobi, Walcott, Giroud
Good to see Perez back on the bench. Oh wait…
I like lucas , but let ne reasomable why will you put him on the bench after 2 month insjured when you have players in full fitness and match fit ready to come on.
“ne reasomable”?
It may well be gibberish, but I know what you mean.
(How worrying in, and of, itself is that?)
…errr because he’s better than the other options. He’s better than Walcott certainly.
How will he get match fit if he doesn’t play ?
Players need to be fit enough for the bench and then playing time makes them match fit, but was he even fit enough for the bench?
Oh, I don’t like the look of a Koscielny-less Arsenal. Looking for Ramsey to pick up where he left off on Sunday, only this time add a goal!
goal scoring central midfielders are a thing of beauty…they are an asset to any team , thats why i always rated ramsey . i’m just hoping one day we can see ox in that role or further up , he will be devastating
Nice lineup imo. COYG!
Arrgh, Gibbs. No offense to him, but want the Ox/Hector duo.
With Kos out, ain’t gonna happen, but I get it.
Clearly Arsene doesn’t fancy Ox in the left wing back role which is fair enough. I like Gibbs and Mon battling for the Arsenal on the left. They may not be the most skilful but they are full on Gooners! Especially Gibbs! 😉
A left footed Ox would be handy
Gibbs is so frustrating because he has everything he needs to succeed. If I see him sprinting up the field and then passing the ball backwards I will combust
Unlike wingers wingbacks have to play on the side of their favorite foot
Really surprising to see Gibbs continuing to start, though I guess in the 3-5-2 there are not many options for a left sided wing back as that wouldn’t suit Alexis very well. Wonder when Iwobi will get a chance to get back into the lineup.
Gibbs certainly does not help Alexis much. Alexis and Monreal have such a great understanding, so I don’t see why you would sacrifice that and play Monreal out of position. Gabriel is no star, but he’s better than Monreal as a central defender.
In the first half we’ve been absolutely no threat from the left side.
The biggest urban myth I know is the one about Gibbs being a good attacking fullback.
I am fuming.
Walcot, coq, and and iwobi remain ahead of perez and elneny. Wow. In what situation would we need a walcott, but not perez?
Come on lads, let’s fucking do it!!
COYG Turn up and return with 3pts
I hate Southampton.
It’s not a thing. It may well never become a thing. But recent trips to Saint Mary’s have always been awkward, at best.
Plus, they feel like they’re Sp*rs’ lite. (Spawn of Pochettinio and all that.)
Ugghh. No, really, ugghh.
Mustafi in the middle of back 3. Koz being out really hurts, but let’s hope Mustafi does the job. Guess we have no other choice. Just happy we are still using 3-4-3/3-4-2-1. Really, really big game for us tonight.
Monreal is wasted at cb, he should be the wing back! There’s a reason not much has been happening on the left for us the last couple of games. We are lacking the link up between him and Sanchez. Defensively Gibbs is good but going forward he offers very little.
A match where holding must display a precocious performance….
Niec line up. Let’s do this guys.
