The president of Deportivo La Coruna is convinced that Lucas Perez will return to the club in the future and hopes that a deal can be done this summer.
The striker swapped his hometown club for Arsenal in August last year but is tipped to quit the Emirates this summer after a frustrating debut season that saw him confined to just six starts in all competitions.
Arsene Wenger is believed to be willing to let the Spaniard, who has ambitions to play in next year’s World Cup, leave but only if a permanent deal that covers the Gunners’ £15 million outlay is agreed.
Speaking to Marca, Tino Fernandez revealed: “I would like for Lucas to return. I’ve never hidden the fact that if we could [bring him back], we would.
“If we can do it this year, we will; if not, it will be next year. I’m convinced that he [Perez] will return to Deportivo one day.
“It’s not easy. He has a big contract and he is at a club that paid a lot of money for him.”
Depor isn’t the only Spanish club interested in signing the 28-year-old, both Sevilla and Espanyol have also been linked in recent weeks.
Looks like he’s off. Shame, hope we get Mahrez to replace him.
I think the move for Lacazette is premeditated on a potential Alexis departure.
He replaces the goals Alexis can score. BUT should Alexis stay, we have an upgrade to Walcott in Lacazette.
Should Alexis leave, then we may move for Mahrez. He replicates Alexis technicality/unpredictability.
Considering the prices bandied for Morata and Lukaku, yet again Wenger has landed a gem with Lacazette.
I think people focusing on Giroud vs Lacazette are frankly simpletons who do not understand the function Giroud can bring beyond just goals (not that he is not clinical either with age) Deschamp plays him ahead of Lacazette for France at no detriment to pace. And we can frankly accomodate BOTH. Lacazette has less opportunity for France because there is so much attacking threat in the French second line. We can play Giorud up top, Lacazette from the right or inverted left. Indeed if Mahrez comes in, he is actually left footed so he can do the same in 3-4-3… Read more »
Show me the money
Surely someone awash with PL money will be prepared to pay us £15mill?
Our squads bursting at the seams, I count as many as 9 who need offloading.
Ospina
Debuchy
Jenkinson
Gibbs
Chambers
Wilshere
Campbell
Perez
Walcott
And this is before we make any new signings.
i’ll keep Chambers..
Chambers can stay
I would keep chambers too
When it comes to transfers out, remember that these are all home-gown players:
Szczesny
Jenkinson
Gibbs
Chambers
Wilshere
Walcott
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Bellerin
The others are Holding, Ramsey, Welbeck, Coquelin, Martinez, Akpom, and Macy.
We need nine.
It’s eight actually.
Think we’d make it.
Also, I am fairly certain that the likes of City, Chelsea and United don’t have 8 home-grown players in the 25 man squad, so how do they bypass this?
They don’t. Either they have 8 homegrown r they don’t have 25 man squads. In addition to the 25, its worth remembering that a club can have an unlimited number of under 21 year old’s.
Fortunately for us, Iwobi & Holding will still qualify as u21 hence won’t be counted in the 25.
How do you offload Wilshere when he is injured? Only has one year left so no club is going to pay for him.
Wow. 5 English players on youre list. If Ox left as well, which is being suggested, we would be left with Welbz and Holding as our English contingent I think.
Is why I my (very small and crusty) hat goes off to S****. They have succeeded with a good balance between their strong core of English lads and international players.
Jenks, Walcott, Jack and Ox were all announced as AFC British core (along with the Welsh wonderkid). What the heck happened???
They all finished above S**** in 4 seasons out of 5.
Mikael Silvestre, Marouane Chamakh, Sebastien Squillaci, Park Chu-young, Kim Kallstrom,
Lucas Perez
Yossi Benayoun
Not in the same ball park
Armouri Bischoff?
These guys are proven flops. Andre Santos and Sanogo would be better fits. Lucas is a good player, but it just didn’t kick for him at arsenal. He’d probably be in the same club with vela, arshavin, Gervinho
Kallstrom rarely ever played for us, can’t really put him with those Legends.
Oh, and he did help us enroute to our first trophy in a long long time.
Off topic, but shouldn’t Woj be back with the team now?
How I wish he were!
How I wish he were!
Saying it twice doesn’t make it come true
How I wish it would!
He was playing in internationals at the end of the season, it seems all players who did this got a few extra days off e.g. Chambo, Nacho, Kos & Oli.
Does anyone else think, that citing Lacazette would be our Number 1 Striker, HFB, a plan ‘B'(I think he’ll stay), amongst Lucas and Welbeck, we’d be better off with Lucas, they both can play as #9 and can also play on the left behind Laca, and are kind of similar in what they offer to the team.
I’d prefer welbeck by a distance
so this was a pointless signing last summer. Maybe we could have signed Lacazette for cheaper instead of buying Perez
What about his contribution to that 3-3 against Bournemouth?
Hurry up and get rid, as with the others. Time to move on
12 mil and he’s yours
I would like to stay. Remember that so called Uepa cup.we need all the players for rotation
I would sell :
Alexis (if we sign Mahrez), Walcott, Campbell, Lucas Perezski, mediocre Elneny, injury prone Jack, Jenko, Gibbs, Debuchy (good luck trying to get rid of this one), and Ospina.
