Sanogo seals Toulouse switch

Yaya Sanogo has joined Ligue 1 side Toulouse after being released by Arsenal.

The France under-20 international has signed a three-year deal at the Stadium Municipal and will no doubt be hoping for more regular action in his homeland after four injury-ravaged years at the Emirates.

We’re assuming something got lost in translation when Toulouse revealed their new signing via Twitter.

Sanogo made just 20 appearances as a Gunner scoring once against Borussia Dortmund in a rare Champions League outing. Loan spells with Crystal Palace, Ajax and Charlton failed to rebuild lost confidence and he saw out the final months playing for the under-23s.

Best of luck to Yaya, we’ll always have the FA Cup final against Hull City.

Is he still under-20?

MJay

Wishing you all the Best and hope your career gets back on track!
Whilst the young man did not get the chance to do many things right (Hull excluded!), he certainly did nothing wrong (Hull included!)!!

COYG!!

NewSeason

That announcement is cringey for old-timers like me. I hugely prefer the new player to be smiling with a t-shirt.

Rambo sambo

The most correct form is for the player to wear the shirt while also holding up another shirt.

PeteyB

Really they should start making them stand in front of a jumbotron showing live footage of said player wear the shirt while also holding up another shirt. That way we get to see an infinite number of the new signing and twice as many shirts.

Also a scarf around the neck. Which they then hold above their heads. The right way up.

Leon

Best of luck to him.
Never worked out at Arsenal but the experience will do him well.

Goonerink

do they even understand the meme they are using?
the floor is lava, therefore avoid touching the floor.
the floor is yaya, therefore avoid sanogo’s first name??

das boi

That picture
Even Yaya wants nothing to do with Yaya
Shame

To be fair to them. In some games he seemed to be the only one playing on a very slippery surface.

Or probably he’s expected to be better than yaya toure at worst.

Cliff Bastin

I scored 15 goals with him on fifa

Lord Bendnter

Then we need to sign him back! A 15 goal striker is exactly what we need at the moment!

Andy Mack

Quite early in his time with us he also had a goal in the PL wrongfully disallowed, which MAY have given him a bit of confidence and more goals for us. But we’ll never know…

Goonermonkey

I suppose at this stage in his career this is a good move. After all, he’s got nothing Toulouse… *gets coat and runs away

Heavenly Chapecoense

Well coined, Congrats!

Lord Bendnter

I guess he’s still got age on his side to make a decent career for himself. Wishing him the best.

Gooner223

Quite sorry it did not work out with us. Some matches he looked completely out of depth in front of goal, but he also shone, on occasion, and you could see the potential. Go on son, wishing you the best @ Toulouse and future endeavours.

“We’re assuming something got lost in translation when Toulouse revealed their new signing via Twitter.”

It’s reference to a social media meme and the picture of Sanogo in the air.

santori

If he can seal a switch, it gives hope to us ridding some of the dead wood. Campbell, Lucas Perez are quality that can enrich any team. I think Perez may have some opportunities in Italy with the Milan clubs revamping. Walcott’s skill set is more limited on the continent and unlikely he will want to go to a team below us in the league so we may have him for a bit yet. Jack’s problem is injury record. He’s a London boy but I’m not sure if the likes of West Ham or Palace may have a space for… Read more »

Foggy Bottom

What an embarrassing signing. Good riddance.

Godfrey Twatsloch

What an embarrassing comment!

Did Toulouse pay the 50M?

Andy Mack

Thy paid the same amount that we did for him…

Come on guys, it’s a clever play on a meme. Given Yaya’s has cult status on the internet it seems fitting to announce him like this. No worse than #LacaNewSigning
