Stephy Mavididi joins Preston North End on loan

Arsenal have announced that Stephy Mavididi has joined Preston North End on a season long loan deal.

The exciting young forward will spend the next campaign with the Championship club, hopeful that he’ll have more success than during his last loan move.

The 19 year old was making progress at Charlton before suffering a horrendous injury, which saw him rip the hamstring away from the bone.

That ended the loan move, and his season, but he’s now got another chance to impress at Deepdale under manager Alex Neil.

Speaking to their official site, he said, “I’m delighted to get it over the line, I’m happy to sign and now I’m ready to kick on for the new season.

“I can’t wait to get started and I can’t wait to meet the lads and crack on – let’s go and do good things this season.

“I just want to put on that shirt and run out do well. I’m buzzing, I can’t wait to get started now.”

Best of luck to him.

The story of the Jeff is very interesting to me this preseason. Clearly a favorite last year, and impressed at least me when given opportunities, yet not having been named for either the preseason trip or the Emirates cup seems to say he’s falling out of favor.

Was there an injury no one was talking about? Did Wenger just think the player needed an attitude adjustment, and acted accordingly? Or is he out the door alongside Debuchy, Jenkinson, and the like?

Didn’t he have a season ending injury last season, and therefore just made his comeback a week or two ago with the reserves?

Do a simple search here in the site or in jeorge birds twitter and will sure know about. LOL. The Jeff got a serious injury and it’s just coming back.. He’s a first team player now, and will get a higher number this season.

Presumably he hasn’t gone to Charlton because the manager there basically admitted that he really didn’t give a shit as to how he looked after the player. Hopefully the Preston manager will have learned. As will we, not to lend players to idiots.

Thats a bit harsh on the Charlton manager. He adnitted maybe overplaying him but was absolutely devastated by the injury…read his words again

I\'m Professor Ignorant, on that subject

Yeah, it was a similar scenario to Alexis being so valuable to Arsenal that Wenger can hardly bring himself to put the guy on the bench for anything, even when he’s returning from injury. Any manager has trouble leaving their best player on the bench when they’re so important to the team that they can win games through individual brilliance. In a way, it is a good sign that Mavididi showed he was that important to Charlton’s success, even if the end result was something everybody would agree was not worth it and should have been better managed.

Didn’t we lend Gnabry to Pulis?
One move I’ll never understand, that’s for sure…

Surely with a name like Fortune clearly odds favors the brave or is it For-tu-ne??

It’s interesting that once again the ‘all knowing’ media haven’t mentioned this before.
I guess they only make up shit about out 1st team squad…

Best of luck to the lad, playing in the Championship at his age is a great opportunity. Hope he gets to put the injury behind him, he strikes me as the strong headed sort.

Hopefully Preston give him good opportunities at goal too.
