Wenger: Koscielny to miss France matches

Laurent Koscielny will miss France’s World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Belarus because of his Achilles problem requires further treatment.

The centre-back was selected by Didier Deschamps for next week’s fixtures but having missed Arsenal’s victories with BATE Borisov and Brighton will stay in London to rest.

Facing the media after the Gunners 2-0 win over the Seagulls on Sunday, Wenger had fitness updates on his compatriot, as well as Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck.

“I would have loved to continue to play [instead of going on an Interlull], but we cannot do anything about that and let’s hope that the players come back in good shape.

“Some players will not go on the international break. Laurent Koscielny, because he has an Achilles problem, Mesut Ozil because he has an inflammation of his knee and Danny Welbeck as well because he’s not fit.”

Koscielny has spoken before about the constant treatment he requires on his Achilles. Let’s hope a bit of rest is enough to see him back fighting fit in a couple of weeks.

Kos may not have come through the academy but we’ve essentially watched him grow as/into a man over the last 7 years. This makes his current Achilles situation quite saddening for me. Whatever it might mean for Arsenal, I wish him and Santi all the best in their travails.

Paul

Good, we need him and Ozil and Welbz.

Hope they are ready after the international break.

This is the issue why it made no sense to have wanted to sell Mustafi (particularly with no better replacement in mind than an aging Johnny Evans). Arguably, we should have kept Gabriel too. Koscielny is a bit of an injury liability now with age. Holding did decent today but it will take time to shape the young man. Meanwhile again surprise we did not afford Chambers any time at all. He looks for all intents and purpose on the way out (on another loan) I suppose in January. We will need to bring someone in you feel at Cback… Read more »

Asked about the injury after the victory, Wenger said: ‘Chambers is injured again on the hip.

‘It doesn’t look too bad, but I think he will be about again for one or two weeks.’

This was after the Doncaster game, so please get a grip.

arsepedant

Chambers is injured and not expected to be ready until October 14.

I have to say you stand out with your post. Good, Bad and the Ugly. For the past week since Chambers was subbed off during the Doncaster game where he was hurt. You have been saying he should be starting CB again for BATE and BHA. I know you have to be a Arsenal fan and read up on alot of stuff all over the place. How do you not know he is hurt this whole time is amazing. Coming up with your own narratives or conspiracies about why he isn’t playing. Its quite funny. Its like you don’t read… Read more »

Hope it’s not too bad…
At Last not as bad as Oxlade missing the top 6 after a 6 min cameo tonight… :-))))

Paul

My heart goes out to him. Played rubbish for us which helped the Pool, now below us in the league and hardly getting a game. Poor Ox…

Arun

My arse goes out to him.
He plays for the scouse now and he will remain mediocre like his once-great but forever mediocre team.

Good business overall.
Invest the money saved in January for a push I say.

onejw1

I’d like to hear Klopp state:
“Ox must feel like he’s still not playing for Liverpool!”

Karma is a cruel mistress.

Rich

So this summer we’ll lose
Cazorla
Ozil
Alexis
Per
JW10
And Koscielny’s Achilles is in bits.
Rambo+Welbz will also be down to their last 12months.
Are we preparing to shorten our squad in preparation of dropping out of Europe altogether?

pakgooner

Nothing is known about Alexis or Ozil, but Cazorla is injured atm and if he will play, it will definitely be in Arsenal colours, Per will be coaching at Arsenal and JW10? Man himself says he wishes to play for the club and LOVES it.. couldn’t say that for you though. Kos will be back as he’s a tough lad, though it will be bumpy without him, granted. Rambo and Welbz will both sign da ting, look at the run we’re on. Stop the negativity, it’s not needed about here or anywhere in the Arsenal camp

Rich

Thank you Mystic Meg…..
Nothing is known about Alexis+Ozil????
That’s not “exactly’ true is it?

Doesn’t matter how tough you are? If you damage your Achilles at Koscielny’s age it tends to be terminal, we knew he was having ongoing problems but didn’t look to improve the team.

Take Cazorla my fav player…done his Achilles, came back… done his Achilles, not seen him for 11months.

We can’t warrant Wilshere a new deal
But probably will.

Arsene has said himself we’re struggling to renew Rambo+Welbz.

Not a lot to be positive about from where I’m sitting.

John Lukic

The Kroenke crumble is gathering momentum.

Martin

There is never anything positive with you Rich.

caligunner

Lol you come on here just to talk about next summer???

You seem like an angry man.

southpaw74

Am i wrong in slightly being down about only scoring 2 goals today,, i mean its only brighton, and hearing scum put 4 past huddersfield i was hoping a 3/4/5 nil thrashing, was listening to arsenal fan tv and quite few was hoping the same, but after going 1 nil up we sat back again

Iceberg10

Tbh Arsenal fan tv is toxic trash. Stop watching that crap.

uhtred
