Wenger reveals team news ahead of Cologne clash

Arsene Wenger has provided the latest team news update ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League clash with Cologne.

The Gunners will top the group with a win and the manager believes he’s got the players to do it like Stock, Aitken and Waterman had the Australian soap stars to make top 10 hits in the 80s and 90s.

The Frenchman hinted at a stronger side than usual in Europe’s secondary competition.

“Well, we have an experienced team,” he said. “Overall I believe that you will see that every single player has a big experience in the Premier League.

“We have brought some young players as well who have played in former games and done extremely well, like Joe Willock, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson.

“Overall I believe we have a good mix between experience and young players.”

Danny Welbeck is set to start in place of the absent Theo Walcott who is suffering from a McGillicuddy of his right buttock.

Mcgiilicuddy of the butt is some nasty business.

Aphex Triplet

That’s why he’s going to ‘sit’ it out.
Coat please!

Zilhad

That was as cheeky as that Thierry Henry nutmeg near the corner flag in 04′

Paul

Hope the youngsters get on and get some more experience. Plus Eddie scores a couple.

Gooner57

Looking forward to seeing Danny back

lee dicks on

Danny well back

Charles chama

Can someone give me statistics on the goals scored per season for Danny Welbeck and Giroud, even for the past three years?

Chip

No sorry, i’m washing my hair.

Gandalf

As much as I’d love them to do well, I think the reserve teams limitations will be exposed in this game. They’ve lost a bit of steam in their last couple of games.

Hopefully the sprinkling of 1st team players (Mertesacker, welbeck etc) can get us over the line.

Ivan Parasite

Which last couple of games are you talking about? And furthermore, its Koln. Something that u put at your armpit.

ramgooner

I can’t Stomach a defeat at Koln.

Ivan Parasite

We are going to win this

Gandalf

I did tell you lads

Trez

I hope we get to see Chambers play. He needs minutes and I think he’ll be a very important player for us. He’s our best ball playing CB and would thrive in a 3 man defence.

arsepedant

I agree. When fit, he kept Holding out of the England U21 team. I think a back three of Chambers, Mertesacker, and Holding would be excellent against Cologne. An added benefit would be playing Debuchy as right wingback instead of Nelson out of position.

shmokin\'em

there would be no pace though…

OneBeatOff

Pace isn’t everything. Michael Laudrup.

santori

Per.

Bai Blagoi

Yes, but it will give Nelson no playing time.
What is better – playing him out of position, or not playing him at all?

John C

If years of watching The Ox, Ramsey and a whole host of others go, not playing him at all would be better than confusing the shit out of him

santori

I don’t think we need to rush to play or start him.

Playing Debuchy ar RWB IMO may be more important short term.

Reiss can come in later in the forward line or sub Debuchy.

Fireman Sam

I like what I’ve seen of Willock

Glad we’ve got plenty of good youth options

ronaldo

have we, we,ve got nelson and eddie, and that’s it

santori

The Jeff isn’t entirely done.

AMN spells MAN.

Willocks been good.

Before Nketieh you’d have ony said we only have Reiss.

And lest we forget Takuma Asano has been decent in Bundesliga on loan.

Tapps

AMN is a star in the making.

Papas

Mcgillicuddy of the right buttock? That IS bad…much worse than the left buttock…and less bad than the right testicle…3 weeks out at a minimum…

Ivan Parasite

Why not both

Charles

Cracking

Crash Fistfight

Ouch

Damon1986

Let’s do this.

Nelson

Willock and wilshere has to be the centre mids aswell as at least one of Eddie or nelson playing up front.

We need to guarantee first to avoid a Roma,Napoli off the bat but I really don’t want too good a squad out with a huge game v Burnley at the weekend

Cliff Bastin

I keep forgetting about Walcott. Makes you appreciate the $35m we got for Ox more.

Toni

We can offer him to PSG as an incentive for them to sell us Draxler. He could be something like Sanchez’s towel boy or something.

master floda

Does this mean Giroud is fit?

Cheadle

I thought a Mcgiilicuddy was a throat infection

Ivan Parasite

It will be, after anal with the infected

Ivan Parasite

Oral*

Aragorn

I really like the youth options but one guy that doesn’t anyone talk about is Joshua Da Silva. Strong runner and looks like he has the physique as well.

ice

Ospina, Debuchy, Chambers, Per, Holding, Niles, Elneny, Wilshere, Welbeck, Iwobi, Giroud.

I always get the team right by the way….
just saying……

santori

Le Coq

Bai Blagoi

Not sure if there will be much more maturity, to be honest. The first team players that need action are still there – Theo is out, but Danny is in; only I didn;t read anything about Oli’s chances to start, also Ospina’s recovery is unknown. Not much of team news, if you think about it:)

So I predict:
Macey/Ospina
Chambers-Per-Holding
Elneny-Wilock with Nelson and AMN as wingbacks
Welbeck-Eddie/Oli-Jack

santori

Coq. No Elneny please.

Isaiah Rankin

Praying for no blocked stairways tonight.

santori

So …If Giroud injured then…

……………………Welbeck……………………
………..Iwobi………………….Reiss…………
AMN…………………………………..Debuchy
……………..Coq………..Jack………………..
……..Holding………………..Chambers……
……………………Per…………………………
…………………..Ospina……………………..

santori

If Giroud fit then maybe…

…………….Welbeck…………..Giroud…………………..
………….Iwobi………………………Jack………………..
AMN…………………..Coq………………………Debuchy
…………Holding…………………Chambers…………….
…………………………Per…………………………………
……………………….Ospina………………………………

Tapps

Ospina (Macey if Ospina not fit) – Chambers, BFG, Holding – Debuchy, Wilshere, Coquelin, AMN – Webeck, Giroud, Iwobi. You heard it here first!
