Hector Bellerín wanted it more
What a talent this kid! Well not a kid anymore 😀
And I hate loving Xhaka… Gives the ball away a tad too often and then does something brilliant every now and then.
I was cursing the fuckers name just as he scored…
Great Scott! With a great comment! _/\_
He showed a ton of confidence today. The reason he wasn’t MotM today was because the left side saw more of the ball. Solid game by both fullbacks today.
I agree with blog’s rating on Hazard. LOL
We’re going to Wembley 😉
4 finals in 5 years, 5 finals in 8 years! Complaining about AW and his perceived shortcomings is like complaining about Santa Claus. Oh, and Santa doesn’t compete with Sheiks and Oligarchs.
Somehow I always feel confident when facing Chelsea these days! COYG
BTW – Gotta love their fans flying their “Proud Of Our History” banner. Really? Are you?
Well I’m proud of my son. And he’s only 13 years old..
Still older than Chelsea, and no doubt much nicer.
But you didn’t buy your son with money stolen from the Russian peasant class
Please which history are they talking about because I can remember them having an history worth being proud of
Magnificent pensioners:- 1 FA Cup, a cup winners cup and 1 championship in a 100 year spell.
Arsenal no where near as good of course with their meagre 13 championships a measly 9 FA cups a spawny cup winners cup and a tawdry euro fairs cup (eufa) in among those was 3 lucky FA cup/ Lge doubles and the 1st.fa/ lge cup double, an unbeaten season, 3 championships on the trot….
All very lucky I’m sure you’ll agree.
How The Gunners must envy Chelsea”history” as one book put it …”Chelsea, a music hall JOKE…”
Yeah, there was glorious moment on the Paris Metro, and the legend John Terry with Anton Ferdinand, and the legend John Terry, oh too many wonderful memories.
Chels recently developed ,from clueless to classless ,racist fans and players .Although it has to be said that’s an improvement on their previous
Can you think “Big Mad Andy, win the lottery”? Also, I love Monreal, looks like such a nice guy as well as being good at football.
Nacho is our new Gilberto … unspectacular but awesomely consistent, reliable, and a vital part of the team
2 goals in 2 games, he might be our new striker!
thanks for making me think of Gilberto, what a class player.
Monreal is very under estimated player. Full of passion and joy for the game. Sometimes as a supporter I hate myself for not giving time to new player before discarding them
I think you are all over-hyped about Xhaka’s goal because from from what i watched he was bad, really bad
I want Ozil to stay forever
But he doesn’t do it against the big teams…..
Wait, I’ll get my coat again.
Nicking a living.
Funny how the general consensus about him seems to have shifted now he apparently wants out.. Seems like he’s finally being appreciated by everyone, even the morons at BT and the BBC. That’s not aimed at you whatsoever by the way, just a change I’ve noticed in the past month or two. God I love Mesut.
That’s because he’s being consistently good. Not because he might stay.
Fits the narrative doesn’t it. When he’s a tied down arsenal man pundits spend all day prattling on about him being lazy and not good enough for arsenal.
Now he’s world class and him leaving will be a disgrace to the club, etc.
First viewpoint never true IMHO. Will be gutted to see him go, though I still retain some hope that he’ll stay.
Qfor a while was sluggish in tracking back but honestly he stepped up his gsme a dofferent level…. im so haopy he chsnged my opinion
We might just get to see more of Ozil’s magic in Arsenal colours beyond this summer. Media has actually done us a favour of sorts by tarnishing his name. Their isn’t a demand for him like Alexis, clubs are probably a bit reluctant to take a chance on him.
The kind of game where you want to invite the team over for tea (instead of hard labour in the garden)
sign up mesut please
we can get u a banner for your dog
While we’re at it, can someone please pass a pen to the real Nacho man to sign a new contract
Monreal was an absolute monster yesterday. 10 stars given. I can’t ask for more from a defender than that.
He’s holding out for a dog and a banner for it.
We’ll even get you a dog.
Could Elneny actually be good when given a clear role?
He is good, all the whinging about him is just nonsense.
I like that I never confuse Elneny with another player, and he looks like he just stepped out of Trenchtown.
Spot on… My point exactly. We can’t complain about a player if the set up is not defined and the role of the player is not well defined. Neny won two player of the month on the trot in his first 3 months, had a great game against Barça etc but not sooner, we changed our system, left him without defining his role. It happened to Arshavin, and even Ozil (when Wenger sent him to the wings). It’s currently happening to Xhaka. Players need a clearly defined system that will suit their abilities. Neny is the closest we have to… Read more »
Defensively he was good today. But he really gave the ball away cheaply in the middle of park several times. Overall good game but I got nervous every time he had the ball at midfield.
Can’t wait to win the cup on Sp*rs Home ground
I know I’d been parroting this before but this is something truly worth parroting amidst all the general negativity IMBHO:
Wenger boys will most likely win atleast one of the 2 (relatively) “Mkhi” trophies that has evaded even Le Prof this season followed by a UCL next season. 😀
Please don’t tarnish the prestige of Wembley by insulting them for their charity work towards the homeless scum!!!
Yeah I know, but we do this so often it’s almost boring…aaww go on then…
Blogs, you have a gift. Unleash the powers!
Just remember to use them for good (like the Hazard thing) not for evil.
Yeah, agree, not for evil….making mourinho slip and fall over on the touchline during a game (preferrably against us) will be counted as good blogs
And he listens to Sizzla!
“ we gonna light up the world with this/ what a ting / bun dem down / bun dem down / babylon you can’t touch a ting”
What a performance from Nacho!!
Also love how he always goes super saiyan when he scores
Who knew we can play rather well when our midfield is balanced.
Bonus rating:
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
We’re going to win another trophy at the Spuds home ground!!!
with those powers can you wish for Wenger to sign Aubamayang, Ozil and a DM please Blogs? thnx.
We’re long overdue a league cup win
Can we change the FA Cup song from the merry month of May, to somehow incorporate the merry month of February? If not, no worries, I’m still over the moon that we beat Chelsea and are going to Wembley! GOONERS!
Very impressed with the commitment of all the players on the pitch tonight. Alex Iwobi showed us why he’s the heir to the throne of Alex Hleb- sublime close control.
Anyone wondering what Iwobi brings to the table needs to watch this match, and his contribution to the second goal in particular. He has the strengthen and technique to hold up the ball and play out of trouble in midfield and out wide. He’s a player thats hard to categorize right now. Technically an AM or Winger, but rather than playing wide or cutting inside, can drop deep from out wide to link up either the defense or midfield to the attack. How pppl can’t see how exciting a talent he is is beyond me!
Its simple for me I agree he is talented. Alot of skill with the ball at his feet. Play in tight spaces. STrong like you said. The problem comes when he is playing an attacking position. He isn’t close to being good enough at shooting. Great example would be todays chance. I’m not saying he has to score those everytime he has a chance its just that when he does the impression up to this point is that he can’t. Ok so if he isn’t strong with scoring goals then he has to be good at creating chances. My impression… Read more »
But he is not very good at the linking up part.
Iwobi right now is not good enough. He has a great physique, his touch is good and he is willing to put in a shift defensively. Having said all that, when the team only has 3 attacking players on the pitch you want them to be good offensively. Right now his passing is clearly not up to the mark and his body positioning is a little weird. He often receives the ball with a body position that closes his angles.
Hopefully he’ll get better with time.
He also took the ball away from Moses three times in succession in our right corner. The next time Moses had possession there, he immediately passed it out. Nigeria dressing room ought to be pretty interesting.
What a night.
Back four seems better and suitable against big teams.
Really? We switched to a back 3 with El Neny falling back. I thought we were getting battered Tillman willian went off and we switched formation.
I don’t think this happened with regularity until the last 20 minutes. Before that, Elneny dropped back sometimes, but played pretty clearly as a midfielder
I wasn’t able to watch the first half, but goddamn was Elneny electric in the second half. Electric in the sense that he did every little thing you want a deep lying midfielder to do. He was tidy with his passing. He was in the right positions so often he killed the thought a lot of Chelsea players had of passing between our center halves. He put in the effort to chip a loose ball that was eventually played into Xhaka for the winner. Cheers to the Egyptian. Not sure how long his run in the XI will last, but… Read more »
Hazard was diving. Thought there was contact coming. Didn’t learn his lesson when he got the physio fired.
Don’t think so–was through alone and outside the area, so no reason to dive. As Michael Oliver said, according to some lip readers, “he fell over.”
Lucky enough win with a solid performance, where do you see Mik fitting in?
We r still vulnerable to lobby thru balls … if micky hazard hadn’t tripped on an old Alexis spitgob it could be a sad day. But it’s not. bring on Wembley. We have another north london cup final there v basratdo spuds. Cup king arsene … ironic we play city … the underdog tag suits. Aguero to barca next week. Late deal. COYG
What?
Mickey Hazard … ex Spuds. Eden hazard ex Chelsea nxt year. Spitgob… a ball of spit and I love man utd gobshite. Comprende senorita?
What??
Wanker
What you talking about Will?
Willis .. Bruce fucking Willis. Star of Die Hard 7 Jack and Wenger
Bonus rating 10/10 for Antonio Rudiger? He supplied that little something extra that was needed to help us get the win
I only wish it could have been John Terry.
Re the Bonus rating: I’m surprised you didn’t get booked for the thought
I feel this is by far the most balanced team we have put out and once Mkhitaryan replaces Iwobi we will be even better. Feeling optimistic
Lots of solid performances led by Ozil, Elneny, Wilshere and Monreal in my opinion. Great to see Wilshere staying so strong physically and playing 90 minutes so often, huge boost to the squad with Ramsey having been out. Monreal is our unsung hero. I think his best spot is an outside back in a back four. He is so good with the ball and never turns it over, puts in great crosses and makes good runs into the box. It’s been amazing watching how consistent he’s been year after year, doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all as he’s… Read more »
YOU GUNNERS!
Who needs Alexis when we’ve got Nacho!
We are king of London! London is always red and always will be! Where are those skeptics and haters! Never mind if are at 5th or 6th but at least our cupboard are filled with cups.
1) Who needs Alexis. We have Monreal….2 goals and 2 assists in 2 matches! Brilliant pin ball goal…sure he meant it. 2) Granit. You make your own luck. This playing higher up the pitch works for him. He could be the new Ramsey. 3) Elneny. Flimsy player in midfield at times but when switched the back 3, very encouraging. Its like what he was doing pre-season. 4) Wenger doesn’t do tactics. But he does subtle adjustments. Dropping Elneny into a back 3 worked. It freed Mustafi and Koscielny to attack higher as he swept from the back and more critically… Read more »
This midfield balance and the fluidity of the front 3 is looking like something Ozil could want to stick around and be a part of for another year or two. Long may it continue.. just sign him up! Mkhi should only add another arrow to this intriguing bow. Between him and Wilshere we may be able to replace many of the long-missed attributes of Santi (each also with their own unique strengths). However I’m loving that Iwobi, Xhaka and Elnenny don’t look like they want to give up their places in the IX any time soon.. can only hope the… Read more »
I just hope Wenger doesn’t bench our last month’s best and most consistent player just because Ramsey is back…Jack has been really really good amd has added a lot…
The midfield is looking more secure. Glad to see jack get back and do it again
At present, Ramsey can’t tie the shoelace of Wilshere in present form.
I haven’t been Jack’s biggest fan but I really take my hat off to his recent performances. He’s really matured and his decision making is MUCH better
The person to be dropped is surely Xhaka? Ok, he scored today, but otherwise he has been bang average. Ramsey would have scored at least once in the last two games where we’ve changed formation.
Ultimately we might see Jack and Mickey fighting for the same role, but we need two players in every position anyway.
Jack is clearly back.
He is back, and pivotal, but when did Wenger last rest him? My sense is that he hasn’t played full 90’s in every game throughout this heavy cycle of weekend and midweek games.
Hope we aren’t playing with fire.
It is amazing the mindset difference playing the same opposition in the league compared to the cup. Chelsea then City for the cup? Well, probably not but you never know with us so lets get behind the team! Chelsea then City in the league? Take your sick bag, just in case.
Time to transmute that mentality into league games. Monreal had a really assured game. When he plays well, there isn’t a better full-back in the league.
Use the powers for evil!
Been through the comments and Sanchez is hardly ever mentioned. I guess people just don’t want to insult him by stating the obvious. We play better since he left!
Alexis the inhibitor. Can’t wait to see him work his magic at manure
Blogs, you’re cracking me up with your bonus rating!
Monreal has been unreal since moving back.to left back. Amazing what players can do when played in their position. Can we hurry up and tie down mesut and Jack now please…
Nacho Unreal
I really thought Iwobi was playing at left wing back with Monreal inside him last night – he made so many tackles in the left back position.
El Neny is the real deal. Our own Nacho is Monreal.
The best ever player rating blog
No mention of Owen Goal eh blogs???
Vote up if you think Iwobi has what it takes to make it here, down if you don’t.
Really enjoyed that and while everyone had a pretty good match I thought Laca was superb in the second half, love his endeavour, Mustafi was quality as was Elneny and what can you say about Nacho! COYG!
Excellent second half performance and I want to single out Iwobi for praise because I feel he gets far too much stick despite his age. He’s most likely to lose out from the new arrivals but I think he can hold his head up high and hopefully has a bright future ahead of himself, though that’s dependant on his continued development.
Iwobi was one of our best performers both defensively and going forward but he gets only 6,5 from fans? Just because he missed that chance? I swear the kid can’t do nothing right in some eyes meanwhile Wilshere had a very average game and he gets 8. Give Iwobi credit when it is due.
Watch the game again and see how many times Iwobi turns the ball over after making a good dribbling run or a careless pass in the final third. He has talent but needs to improve his distribution in the final third. He’s not yet a starter in the first 11 for me, I want wingers that can finish and score goals on a regular basis. Iwobi in his current form is not that player but maybe some day he could be. Squad player for now.
I loved the ping ball for arsenal’s equalizer. Rüdiger and Marco, you’re good at ping ball when it matters most
Bonus rating: 10/10 -Willians comments before the game about us losing Sanchez and the impact it would have, and them keeping Hazard. Then him going off with an injury and us winning the game. It’s always a good idea to talk shit after you win, not before.
0/10 for the linesman on the far side, I think he got every decision wrong. But don’t worry, he will still get a linesman gig at the weekend.
If a couple of those had gone our way . . . But, overall, a pretty well-officiated match. Kante wasn’t carded until he committed his 78th foul, but that’s pretty normal. (He is a genuinely great player; without him and Hazard, Chelsea would be in real trouble.)
Ozil deserves bonus rating for that “chest pass “.
Shoulder.
Great performance after a shaky start. I do hope Iwobi doesn’t become the new scapegoat for internet ‘fans’ now Walcott’s gone. I thought he’s been brilliant the last two games, showing strength, technique and guile. Yes, like many players his age (he’s 21) he could do with some refinement, but some of the words I saw on twitter last night were appalling – they included “I’m sure Iwobi was just a fan that won a competition to play for Arsenal”, “Wenger please terminate Iwobi’s contract” and “Iwobi so shit. Wenger playing favourites again.” Why don’t we support our players instead… Read more »
