Aaron Ramsey promises there’s more to come from him as he eyes the chance to win another trophy at Wembley this weekend.
The Wales international has made eight appearances in four years at the home of English football for the Gunners, scoring two FA Cup final winning goals and netting in a Community Shield victory along the way.
Amidst some terrible recent results and performances, Sunday’s showdown with Manchester City in the Carabao Cup represents a chance to put a smile back on the faces of both players and supporters. Having recovered from a groin problem, Rambo says he’s determined to get his hands on more silverware.
“We’ve got another final now on Sunday, so that’s something that I’m going to really look forward to,” he told Arsenal Player.
“We’re going back to Wembley again and you want something to show for every season. This is an opportunity to definitely do that.
“We know we’re going to be up against a great team but they have their weaknesses and we’re more than capable of beating them if we get our game plan right and perform on the day.
“There’s a lot more to come from me and hopefully this will be the first of more.”
Get Ramsey on the pitch, he’ll be keen to keep his winning record going. Hope he slots in the winner, his personal hat-trick.
If he does score a hat-trick of FA Cup final winners will that make him an Arsenal legend? And has anyone else ever scored two FA Cup final winning goals or is that already a record?
This is the efl cup not fa tho
Good point. I shouldn’t be asking it now, though still interested to know.
We could broaden it to make it more relevant to this match to ask if anyone has scored a hat-trick of winners in domestic cup finals.
Looking into this…..(FA Cup only, yet to find info for League Cup) 7 players have scored 2 FA Cup winners. 2 players (other than Ramsey) have scored back to back winners: Jimmy Forest for Blackburn Rovers 1884 and 85, Bobby Smith for some lily-white cunts 1961 and 62. Only player to score a hat trick of winners is (the thorn in Phillip Sendross side) Drogba for Chelsea. In my search I also found out Yaya Sanogo’s only goals on loan for Charlton was a hat trick in a 4-3 defeat to Reading and Jermaine Pennants only goals for Arsenal were… Read more »
Great research, thanks, I couldn’t find anything. Another reason to want Ramsey to score in an FA Cup Final(s) if it helps him beat Drogba’s record.
Looks like you could start your own column up!
Hehehe 7amKickOff, watch out! Goonerest is being too humble
How about a wooden spoon to show for this season?
Sounds high in confidence and rightly so. He has the potential to light up any game.
Tomorrow would be a great place to start.
If Ramsey is really that desperate for a trophy, might I suggest the snarling head of Jose Mourinho mounted on a wooden shield above a fireplace at London Colney in the style of one of those old Victorian hunting trophies you occasionally see in stately homes?
While I commend the sentiment most of the trophy heads folk like rat mounted had some aesthetic value. I’m not sure anyone would want to occupy a room with his ugly puss looking down at you.
Well fucking go and earn it then
Yep Rambo, lets go get our first trophy of the season. This is a cup final and recent form go out of the window, so anything is possible…..its always about who wants it more on the day. We can do this if the ‘real arsenal’ turns up. COYG!
Its hard to say which is the real Arsenal these days!
Everything he says is true, it just depends which Arsenal turns up on the day
So true Anonymarse. If the wrong Arsenal turns up, we will get slaughtered…..but if the right one does, we have a real chance. Fingers crossed. COYG.
We seem to have some kind of split personality thing going on
It’s a pity Mr Hyde turns up more than Dr Jekyll.
Well, going by our recent form, one would even begin to wonder maybe Dr Jekyll was just a figment of our imagination methinks!
Something to show from this season?Compensation for wasted time maybe?
That said, If we can somehow win against man¢ I will be bloody delighted.
Remember the target at the beginning of the season?
How without cl football we could do a chavski/lester and concentrate on the league alone. Really challenge this year
That’s worked out well
Unfortunately City were really good and we were shit
Unfortunately, playing in the Europa actually means more midweek games (after the group stage) than the CL, nothing like Chavs and Leicaster who had no European football at all.
Not sure we can complain about that since we haven’t played the first team in any of them
We changed virtually the whole 11 for every Europa group game so in terms of our ‘title challenge’ we in reality had no European football to deal with as we were out of it way before the knock out stages began. There’s always excuses if you want to look for them but we were simply nowhere near good enough to challenge.
5 at the back with Kola at Lwb. Xhaka and Ramsey as 2 CMs with Eddie as main striker, Auba at LW and Ozil at RW.
Wilshere, Welbeck and El Neny on the bench.
I want Eddie to start and be the main man. He deserves the chance and he is dangerous in set pieces aswell.
The other alternative is Maitland Niles at LW and Auba as the lone striker. This will allow Ramsey to go forward.
Lol they are not going to play on fifa 18!
I don’t want Wilshere and Ramsey on the pitch together. There will be a confusion as to who should attack and who should defend. Add Ozil to that and it is a tactical suicide unless you think we can dominate them in possession. The guaranteed starters IMO are Ozil, Auba, Xhaka, Ramsey, Ospina, Kos, Mustafi, Monreal, Bellerin. There are 2 spots left and i would play Kolasinac and Niles/Eddie. The idea is to not let their fullbacks overlap and track their wingers in the first half. Try and score from a set piece/counter attack if possible. If not then we… Read more »
I like Eddie, too, but he has no business in a match of this magnitude just yet; Aubameyang as our striker could be lethal on the counterattack if our players can spring him (City play an obscenely high line). The most important thing to recognize in preparing for this match is that City are a much better team than we are; once we admit that, then we can begin working towards neutralizing their billion-euro assets. The key to beating a team so superior in possession and attack is forcing them out wide by playing compact, something we are not used… Read more »
Eddie just helped the U23s reach the semi of the Euro cup ,just finished 2-1.
Thank god what you want is irrelevant hey ?
Not going to thumb you down because you’re probably about 14 years old I’m guessing? Just not going to happen kid, Eddie will be lucky to make the bench. He’s completely unproven but his time will come one day
Just because my lineup is an odd one doesn’t mean I play Fifa or I’m 14.
I thought Iwobi was injured when I posted it until I saw the training pics. I don’t think Welbeck should start the game because if he goes down then we have nobody in the Europa league.
Shut up ramsey and get on with the job. Y’all talk to much.
You do realise that clubs are contracted to have players speak to the media. It’s not like Ramsey was sitting at home and thought to himself “hmm, I think I’ll call up the Daily Mail to have a chat about this weekend.”
Dotman don’t you come on here to hear what people say? It’s “too” as well…;-)
Fuck you’re annoying
A trophy would be nice. But if failure this season gets Arsene out the door so that we can finally begin to move on, then its no big loss either.
I’d rather see us competitive in all competitions again one season sooner than win this and have Arsene sign another contract.
But in fairness, that might not be the choice, so I hope we win.
Less talk more action.
The buffalo cup and the Europa please.
