It’s Arsene Wenger’s final trip to Old Trafford as Arsenal manager, and the boss has picked a team very much with Thursday’s game in Madrid on his mind.
Here are today’s official line-ups.
Man Utd: De Gea, Valencia, Lindelof, Smalling, Young, Herrera, Matic, Pogba, Lingard, Lukaku, Sanchez.
Subs: Pereira, Rojo, Fellaini, Mata, McTominay, Martial, Rashford
Arsenal: Ospina, Bellerin, Mavropanos, Chambers, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Maitland-Niles, Iwobi, Nelson, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang
Subs: Cech, Holding, Monreal, Osei-Tutu, Willock, Welbeck, Nketiah
Not that confident but let’s beat Mourinho for Wenger’s sake, will leave a sweet taste in the mouth given that c*unt, and to avoid 7 away PL defeats in a row.
it would be hilarious if we did beat them
I see the thumb down fairies are here again
MY comment was very controversial for an Arsenal fan to make…
You sad wanker, Anonaymarse
Charming
I’m not a fan of the whole thumbs up / down thing
I quite like it but some people seem to thumb stuff down because they don’t like the person who wrote it
Could try being a better person?
Me? You don’t know anything about me as a person …
Sometimes I take the piss out of the people who just seem to bitch and complain about everything and are still not happy even though Wenger is now leaving, but I’m not apologising for that …
I just think it stifles actual debate by discouraging controversial (ie negative) opinions, or people making posts where they’re just trying to feel out their thoughts. If people have a view, positive or negative, on a post it would be better if it was responded to with actual thought rather than be put to an anonymous vote. And then there’s the popularity contest aspect like you mention.
It also encourages boring comments like ‘Mourinho is a c*nt’, ‘Giroud *swoon*’ etc which just seem to fish for thumbs up.
Would be even better given the youths playing.
Mavropanos yay
Really excited to see what THE MAV can do!
How is cech both playing and on the bench?
Ospina starting. Has been corrected.
We got a Big Fucking Greek
There’s got to be a Big Fat Greek wedding joke in here somewhere?
No there doesn’t.
It will be brilliant beating them with this team and have Cech subbed in for the second half to replace Cech after a strong showing in the first! Didn’t know we are allowed to have a Cech starting and another on the bench! Blogs
Cech both on the field and the bench. Quick for an older guy.
We’ve fixed the Cech thing 😉
Much stronger than I expected, but Mavropanos over Holding? Is that an indication that Holding has fallen out of favor or regressed?
Anyway, please please don’t lose to that filth of a man. Please.
Which one ?
Poor old petr cech, if he gets injured he has to come on and replace himself 🙁
Oh no.This could be real ugly.
8 2 agree with you there
Too soon
Not much choice for Wenger in this one, though a bit surprised to see Ospina in there (Lukaku will own the air space in our box against him). Would just love it if Nelson did a Rashford and had his breakout game today, and I hope M-N can be his best industrious self to help shield those young men in central defence! Kolasinac should make his way over to Sanchez at some point in the match and reintroduce himself, too. 😉
One last chance to earn some respect at OT
So Czech starts on Thursday… Right
Welcome back Mkhi! Surprised to see him starting. Feeling quite nostalgic thinking of all those great matches at Old Trafford with Wenger in charge. I am excited to see that backline. It’s either going to be great or it is going to be really bad..nothing in between. There is going to nothing dodgy as with Kos and Mustafi as it has been. Let’s go get them Gunners. Common.
I thought he might start as Wenger willl want to give him some minutes after coming back from injury before the Athletico game. I would expect him to be subbed off around the hour mark
I was slyly hoping to see Josh Da Silva in the squad.
In many ways and as young as he is, he’s imo the kind of Midfielder that could work with a Xhaka-type and what the squad needs; a powerful box-to-box type in the Vieira-Diaby mould (not saying he’s as good btw, just comparing the type).
Would’ve been great to see.
From what I’ve seen he looks a bit clumsy in his touch and passing to warrant getting a chance yet
8-2 or the match is fixed :v
How some of you guys are npt absolutely crapping it i dont know! Last time Wenger pulled a master tactic like this team selection….we know what happened!
Can’t be worse then starting Armand Traore can it?
Give Belleri a break! Really don’t need him tired or injured!
I don’t know for sure that the 2 teams strategy is that sound. Hasn’t worked that well first half of the season… maybe first teamers could have used some more minutes to get in the groove
This will be interesting.
This could either go horribly wrong or amazingly well given Mourinho probably won’t have much to go on with Nelson in that position and with Mavropanos at all!
Wenger just got more respect from the Utd fans than he has from some of ours this year. I have no love for Utd and hate Jose but that presentation to wenger by SAF was a class act. Now let’s stuff the fuckers
Silly me, I thought the players would want to give AW a proper send off and win against Man U, just this once
Well done to Arsene Wenger
36 points behind the champions.
The worse league performance in decades.
And he still cannot work out why he was pushed out.
The young Greek lad played well.
Just about the only positive thing to say…
Not much options beyond young players who have yet to show return on promise.
That said, Mavropanos I thought acquitted himself well today.
