Ramsey and Aubameyang react to the 3-0 win over Stoke

Aaron Ramsey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang spoke to Sky Sports after the 3-0 win over Stoke today.

Here’s what they had to say.

The scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story …

Ramsey: No, the first half was very difficult, sometimes that happens after international break, it takes you a while to get into it. They’re fighting for their lives at the bottom and it was important for us to stay in the game in the first half.

We know our quality can come through in the end and we’re delighted to get the three points.

Was it frustrating?

Aubameyang: Yes, it’s not always easy to start after international break by the second half really good, the spaces were open so we did a good job in the second half.

Was Thursday’s Europa League game on the minds of the players?

Ramsey: No, I don’t think so. We were committed today, we fought till the end, it was frustrating at times but those things happen in games sometimes. It was important for us not to concede, we did that and won in the end.

Any pressure for the penalty having missed against Man City?

Aubameyang: Yeah, a little bit! I was just thinking that I needed to score and be focused and I did, so a little bit pressure but was ok!

Why not take the second penalty for the hat-trick?

Aubameyang: I know that Laca is back and I think I scored twice, I think it’s good for his confidence and that’s why.

Small crowd again, what’s it like for the players?

Ramsey: It was all right. We don’t let that affect us. They were frustrated in the first half, as were we but they stuck with us and we’re glad we got them the three points in the end.

Good lad Pierre

Wenger'sCoatZipper

One thing that surprised me pleasantly is that Ramsey stopped complicating things and as a result, is a completely different animal on the pitch. He seems like his old self, full of confidence and dangerous whenever he touches the ball. Good times ahead.

Indeed, he often over does things. If he keeps things simple, he is a more effective beast.

Still don’t like the fact with Elneny and Rambo, they tend not to turn with the ball too well and pass it back into defense.

One thing Jack does well is he has only one thing on his mind which is to move the ball forward and away from our defense.

Mhkitaryan is also a bit more forward thinking.

Anthony

Good team ethic there from Auba. Sure he can take the second penalty, get a hat trick and take all the plaudits for that. Instead he gives it to a team mate coming back from injury. Credit to him, and you Laca for stepping up, putting it away given his recent form and injuries. I also wonder if part of the thinking was that it makes it more difficult for the keeper. You’ve been beaten once, second penalty won’t be the same as the first? So more likely to go the correct way. Up steps a different player, different penalty,… Read more »

C**ts interviewing arsenal everytime!

I think that some season ticket holders need their tickets taken away. We need people to support their team, whatever is happening.

Jimbo Jones

Can I ask if you are a seasonticket holder? I ask because the main problem I see at the ground is a lack of passion and any sort of solidarity amongst the support. Theres a few reasons for this, firstly the tourists who want to experience a ‘real’ football experience but the volume of tourists buying marked up tickets is self-defeating as it takes away from the atmosphere. Next it’s too bloody expensive, youngsters and locals have been priced out and the demographic is dominated by mainly middle aged guys (or approaching middle age) and to be honest we don’t… Read more »

well to be fair . i’m a foreign fan that has only been three times to a game ( since 2001-2002 season ) and i always sing my brain out .
but the stadium is very silent , nothing like good old highbury

we pay a hreavy price for our tickets ( around 700 sterling and sometimes more ) for the trip

i somehow think the emirates is designed to sound good .

or maybe we don’t have songs like back in the days .

COYG !

I applaud you for the enthusiasm, the effort for each game, and can see your point but if you also look at it from the other side too. There are many people who have renewed their season ticket every year in the hope that this is the year that we start competing again. The club sold the Emirates move as a new dawn but that has never come. Maybe I was slightly unfair on tourists as it is the corporate seats that are more of an issue for atmosphere. But I stand by my point that a mix corporate seats… Read more »

Well if they’re going to ‘be there’ for the next 20 years but not bother to show up or just hurl insults at the players unless the club is fighting for first I’d say the ‘tourists’ are helping, not hurting the atmosphere.

Jimbo Jones

The expectation is that Arsenal fight for first. The fans pay top dollar year in year out but the club doesn’t match their ambition.

Jimbo Jones

See my reply above. I don’t condone insulting players but it’s always happened at every club that’s not playing it’s best. It’s not unique to arsenal.

It’s a form of individual protest and it’s their right. The reality is that coordinated a walk out or in ground protest at their dissatisfaction is impossible.

I wouldn’t begrudge anyone choosing to spend Easter with family this year

You tell others to get off their horse when you are on a f**king ass.

Mistafi

We’re entitled to be fighting for #1 spot anything lower is degrading. Finishing behind shits is degrading and finishing ahead of them is our birth right. How dare you even suggest that the players deserve support when they are not playing well. They want support? Play well and they’ll get it. If you are an arsenal player and haven’t played well you better hide. You better turn off comments on your social media. Be prepared cause you competitive sportsman or manager who probably doesn’t sleep well because you didn’t play well are the cunts for not trying hard enough as… Read more »

Support the team.

Still plenty to play for.

that Europa is a BIG win for us because we have never been big in Europe.

Wenger keeping us in CL for so many seasons has elevated the club status.

Prior to that our only wins in european adventures were secondary cups at best.

Whilst Europa is a tier down from the CL…it is a massive win still and will sneak us back into the premier european competition regardless of where Spuds finish.

Had a couplde of decent shouts at goal Rambo. One that hit the bar and the one late on when Granit whipped one in and he just did not get his set up right ramsey. Encouraging performance from the Welshman. Like the way both Aubameyang and Lacazette take turns to drop and help bring the ball out of defense now. If we can combine them effectively as a pair and support them with a stable midfield, we can start racking up goals more efficiently. Still think we need to add options in midfield. Whether Jack stays or not, we are… Read more »
