Wenger issues rallying cry for season end

Arsene Wenger has used his programme notes ahead of today’s game against West Ham to issue a rallying cry for what remains of the season.

The Frenchman touched on his decision to leave the club at the end of this campaign, but has urged everyone to come together and back to the team as the Gunners hunt success in the Europa League which would mean so much.

The Arsenal boss has never won a European trophy, and in its history the club only has two, so this would be something historic if we were to make it happen.

“I’m sure you are all aware that, after careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season,” he wrote.

“I do not want to say too much now, but as I said on Friday I am grateful for having had the privilege to serve the club with full commitment and integrity for so many memorable years. For now there are still seven football matches to play this season.”

“I want to finish these notes by offering thanks to the staff, the players, the directors and the fans who make this club so special.

“My love and support for Arsenal will last forever and I urge our fans to stand behind the team so we can finish on a high.”

Today is certainly going to be emotional, and with Wenger expected to pick a team with Thursday in mind, let’s hope the players out there can respond accordingly.

And let’s also hope there are eight games left this season.

a hell of a lot better than not winning it! It’d also be quite funny to see people lose their shit all over again.

I still keep checking his statement to make sure he said resigned rather than re-signed! Hope there hasn’t been an error there!

Can you imagine if this was all just an art of waresquemaneuver by Arsenal to deal with the low stadim attendance numbers and Wenger announces his decision to sign on for a 5 year contrcact to handle ‘unfinished business at Arsenal’.

Please boys, do the boss proud and finish the season on a high for him.

I can’t wait to read Wenger’s memoirs when he writes it.
