Arsene Wenger has provided some injury updates on both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and David Ospina following Thursday night’s 4-1 win over CSKA Moscow.
The former limped off after a clash of knees in the second half, while the Colombian keeper suffered an ankle injury in training yesterday.
On Mkhitaryan, the seriousness is as yet unknown, with Wenger saying, “Mkhitaryan has a knee problem, we don’t know how bad it is. He will certainly be out for Sunday.”
The 29 year old got some treatment, tried to play on, but realised he couldn’t, so we’ll have to keep fingers crossed it’s not too bad.
While on Ospina, he continued, “The scan today was reassuring. He will be out for two to three weeks.
“Yesterday we were scared for a serious injury, but the scan was reassuring.”
Youngster Matt Macey took his place on the bench, and it looks like Petr Cech will keep his place for next week’s second leg.
Knee injuries are the worst ones hope this one’s is not
When I was a kid, my father would play this game with me:
He’d ask if I had water on my knee…
then give a me a nerve pinch.
Now my knee is the size of Lake Ontario.
It was because he fell hard on the knee.
Hopefully just a bad bruise not an internal injury of the knee.
Nope, he was actually caught on the knee… I feared the worst on replay! Hopefully it’s not so serious and he’s back real soon.?
Will it be too much to ask for Macey to be handed a PL debut this weekend?
Blogs I’m finding these adverts are covering up the text more often. Anything can be done about it? I’m accessing through Facebook on IOS if that’s any use
I want us to play Matt Macey in some of the remaining Premier League matches, it’s not like we have anything to play for in the PL
I don’t care who we play in the EPL as long as Cech is between the sticks to lead us to Europa glory
Agreed, if Macey is now our back up he really should get a run out to remove a few cobwebs and get the confidence going.
I would rest Miki for the next few games so that he can be 100% for manure where he takes a free kick and Fellani is in the wall but he scores because the shot flies through his afro.
Meanwhile Sanchez, who by then hopefully has been on the bench for weeks, loses his shit and pokes Mourinho in the eye.
