Over the last number of months Arsenal have been linked with a move for Freiburg centre-half, Caglar Soyuncu.
Talks between the clubs took place earlier this month, but as yet no final agreement has been made, and our interest in the 21 year was confirmed by the player himself.
Speaking to Turkish media, he said, “Arsenal are one of the most important clubs in England. I know they’re interested in me, but there’s nothing finalized yet about my transfer.
“After the national team camp we’ll have talks.”
Soyuncu has impressed in the Bundesliga this season, and is a player identified by new Head of Recruitment Sven Mislintat.
The Gunners are in need of defensive reinforcement this summer following the retirement of Per Mertesacker and the serious injury sustained by Laurent Koscielny.
There have also been links with Borussia Dortmund’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos, a move which could open the door for the departure of Shkodran Mustafi, but it remains to be seen what exactly the new head coach wants to do with his defensive set-up.
Soyuncu. Sounds like he’d make a meaty substitute.
I would think the new coach probably wants a defence that doesn’t leak like a sieve
The lad is basically jerking off at the thought of ATM.Even if he comes,it won’t be his preference.Don’t want that…
What?
The Royal Bank of Scotland ones excite me the most, but I’ll take a Lloyds now and again.
Think he meant atletico. Otherwise it’s quite concerning how he’s jacking off to ATMs and coming without intending to.
If he’s talking about us publicly then I can only assume it’s absolutely not happening
I think if he has to think about it he can go somewhere else
He’s going to the world cup, he’s in camp fighting for his place, he doesn’t need to make a decision. In fact its better he thinks about it, one because we want him to be sure and two it means he’s good enough to have very good offers on the table.
Turkey didn’t qualify for the World Cup
Details.
Nah. Tts Arsene era. This new era of emery-sallehi-sven will get everyone talking. Lol
From what I can remember from his Dortmund days..Mislintat loves bringing in players whose names are just too hard to pronounce. So wouldn’t be surprised if this transfer does go through.?
It’s nice bringing in and developing youth but we need an EXPERIENCED centre-half by the start of next season. Kos may never be back and Mustafi is a walking accident.
BTW: I felt sorry for Karius yesterday. He was thrown in at the deep end by Klopp and had an experience which may destroy his career – but I hope it doesn’t.
That what happens when you rely too much on youth.
We are trying to sign a 34 year old ex-Juventus defender to be fair
Seems like we are trying to get youth and experience is what I mean
Not balanced transfer strategy.
We need someone who is at their peak not too old or too young.
If we do that the young players never get a chance.
feel sorry for John Terry for not being able to play against Chelsea next season. Well at least he stays in the Championship and get to face the Orcs.
Perhaps we should sign him
You go to hell with that noise
It doesn’t matter where he plays, where he parks or who’s wife he shags, he is a raging cunt. I hope I never read his name again.
Me too, I didn’t even want Liverpool to win but felt so sorry for Karius, I didn’t enjoy the game at all. The second error was a bit Ospinatisimo.
Any Bundesliga fans got the inside track on this guy?
What sort of player is he?
He’s kinda aggressive and strong, and is a good dribbler.
Arseblog, what is the status of Steve Bould and the first of the Wenger’s staff. Saw something funny on Arsenal.com, we have a new head coach but also an assistant manager??.
The assistant manages the cones.
Ryo will be jealous.
I wonder how so many letters are going to fit on the jersey.
Not as bad as Pierre Emmerich Aubameyang
Or Sokratis Papastathopoulos for that matter
Hell let’s just get Jan Venegoor of Hesselink and be done with it.
Pasta is easy to remember and short on the shirt.
You think seven letters presents a problem? Maybe this is why we’re looking for a new kit manager.
Are we? I thought Vic’s son was in line to take over?? And if not, why the fuck not? Arsenal runs through his veins …
No it doesn’t. We should bring in a new kit manager with fresh ideas
Like pressing.
Or sticking in their position
I am referring to Paspatha…
We already have 3 cbacks under 24yrs. Two recently bought. Don’t understand the obssession with collecting inexperienced Cbacks. Its one thing taking someone like Lenglet at Sevilla who has been playing regularly at top level in La Liga and in CL even if at 21yrs. Its another with Holding from Championship and Mavropanos from Greek league. NO doubt good potential but neither have yet established return on promise and they need time playing to gain experience. This player may also be eventually a good buy BUT we are in no position to risk development over ready made in the back… Read more »
Wouldn’t mind seeing us go after Reus Royce to properly replace Sanchez.
I’d say: go for Forsberg (RB Leipzig). Quick, aggressive and a team player.
Fossberg is not the sort of player we need in midfield. We need someone who can control possession and preferably someone who is also strong with some height and power. Liverpool just signed Fabinho. Granted we are not in a position to compete because we lack CL allure (rue the people who dissed that 4th place trophy Wenger won continuously for us over 2 decades)…BUT we are rumoured to make a late bid. Which begs the question why we were not in earlier knowing we would have to fight off teams with CL card to play. As far as a… Read more »
I think you may have fallen down the rumour rabbit hole and banged your head.
Don’t understand the point of it. Seems to me Sven has the cart before the horse, wants to sneak things in before Emery can weigh in. Surely you would want the new gaffer to take stock of what he has first. Plus we already have Holding and Mavropanos as far as under 23yrs Cbacks are concern. Neither have yet showed sustain return on promise to even match the flawed Mustafi. Chambers isn’t that much older either. Now we’re talking of adding a Squillaci signing with an overweight Greek player who has not performed well last season. What kind of thinking… Read more »
