Arsenal take on Burnley at the Emirates today in what will be Arsene Wenger’s final home game in charge.
A win would ensure 6th place and an apt send off for the manager for the last time at the Emirates.
Here is today’s team.
Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Mavropanos , Kolasinac, Chambers , Wilshere, Xhaka, Iwobi, Mkhitaryan , Lacazette,, Aubameyang
Subs: Ospina, Mertesacker,, Monreal, Maitland-Niles, Mustafi, Ramsey, Welbeck
Keown was correct! Missing Mesut! Hopefully get a win today for Arsene. COYG
My first thought exactly. Tangy as it was, his assessment was spot on. Özil is a pussy. Damn good footballer still, obviously! People are complicated. Makes you appreciate the true greats that much more.
You don’t even know and you condemn Even murderers are not treated this way before being condemned…
Özil’s not a “tough guy”, that’s just him. I just appreciate Keown’s honesty, and he’s basing it on PLENTY of evidence. You obviously need strength and skill to rack up the stats Özil has. 350K pounds a week and sits it out because his back hurts…who’s got the smelling salts?
Fucking joke ozil. When the going gets tough……
We’ve got NOZIL……
I don’t what it is about this lineup, but it makes me feel excited.
Maybe it’s seeing Laca, Auba, and Mikiti playing together from the start
Or a refresher at the back with Chambo and Mavro.
And finally Kolasinac
Only thing I would also like to have seen was AMN instead of Xhaka
AMN is rated too highly. Give him time.
XHaka has been one of our most consistent players recently so why drop him. AMN has a great future and I’m sure he will become a very good player.
Nice selection, Mert on the bench,Özil not.
Also, i think it’s fair for us to give Macey the next couple of games in the Starting lineup. I would love to see what he is capable of
I’m just so sick of seeing Cech and Ospina in the strating 11 this season
Jack starting feels like farewell.
Wilshere and Iwobi, no creativity there then.
pretty make-shift lineup with an important game to play to avoid Europa qualifiers. I see Mesut is still doing his disappearing act…I kid, but seriously if that boy is ill again then we need to start calling in the witch doctors.
COYG! Make Wenger and the fans proud. Whatever anyone thinks of Prof. Wenger, I’m sure we can all agree that a 3 point send off at home would be lovely.
How do I thumb down the first paragraph, and thumb up the second one?
How would you have made the team stronger?. What an odd comment
Make this an unforgettable occasion for Le Prof, guys! COYG
That’s an attacking team coyg.
Come on, lads, give the Boss the sendoff he deserves. Looking forward to Per coming on and getting a warm applause from everyone lucky enough to be there today.
Today’s game is all about Wenger. Now is the time to celebrate what he has done for the club. Don’t let the media fool you, he is a great manager.
Just enjoy the day ffs. Now is not the time to pro or against
Something poetic that the legend and most successful manager we’ve ever AW, for his last home game continues to pick his favourite and most consistently average player in recent years.
Please new boss, make selling Xhaka, that average running through treacle donkey, the first thing you do.
Never mind Granite, what about Wishere and Iwobi, favourites who wouldn’t get into a mid table team.
I’m no xhaka fan but to his credit he has improved massively recently. If he’s not asked to do a role he isn’t physically capable of then I think he could be a very good player
Xhaka was excellent today — defensively, positionally, and made some great passes. Get real — he’s good.
Xhaka has been excellent in recent months. One of the best passers in the Premier league
Ozil is just proving he is a Gooner. Now going through the injury stage.
If you guys haven’t read Andrew’s tribute to Ze Prof yet, it’s a great read. Lovely tribute to a legend and wonderful guy. Got impatient with him over these past few years, and it’s been time to go for a while now, but he deserves a proper send off.
I want to see a fighting side today.
Sat at work reading the pre match updates on the bbc app. I’ve been a big Wenger out guy since the first of our recent FA cups but, I feel emotional now that reality is kicking in.
