Aubameyang: We knew we had to be more aggressive

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang faced the Sky Sports cameras after his second half strike sealed a 2-1 win for Arsenal away at Bournemouth.

Fun fact, that was Auba’s 14th goal for the Gunners scored on a Sunday. He has 18 in the Premier League for us in total.

Anyway, here’s what he had to say about the three points.

On it being a tough win…

Yeah, of course. We knew it would be a tough game today and it was, it was tough. It’s good to win and to go home with the win.

On Arsenal being more alert than Bournemouth in the build-up to his goal…

Yeah, maybe. I saw Alex [Iwobi] give the ball to Sead [Kolasinac] and I sprint into the area. He gave me a good pass, so yeah.

On Arsenal playing better after the break…

The goal before half time [for Bournemouth] was bad for us. At half time we spoke and knew that in the second half we had to come back with intensity. We knew that we had to be more aggressive and do better than the first half.

On Arsenal’s 17-game unbeaten run…

Yeah [we’re building something], we’re following a process. It’s a process. We continue in this way and I think the group is living well. We’ll try to continue in this way.

great finish by aubemeyang. i feel we missed lacazette. can’t wait to see them both rip sp*rs apart.

PeteyB

I certainly hope they do, but the realist in me is a little concerned. If we start slow again Im nervous the spuds will do to us next week what they did to Chelski yesterday. We’ll really need to up our game.

Thierry bergkamp

Can’t start slow at home in a NLD and the chance to go above them. It’s gonna be a big test.

TeeCee

Oh I dunno. We could go in, say, two down at half time and then score, say, five in the second half.
That’s always funny.

afan

well laca might, not sure about auba

Hantal

It’s nice to have a striker who still scores when he’s not at his best

Jack but

I am surprised auba is topping the pl goal chat despite not being at his best

Merteslacker

Aubameyang has been directly involved in 23 goals for Arsenal in 26 appearances in the EPL (18 goals, 5 Assists).

I actually don’t care whether he plays well as long as he keep coming up with the goods!

Thierry bergkamp

It was like 2 different teams in each half.

Martin

Yes they were Bournemouth and Arsenal

Timsh

Would like him to score more on Saturdays next season because we’re not playing a Europa League schedule anymore

Evang. Simon

Auba for the golden boot…..

Bring on Spurds…..

It is NLD and its the emirate stadium….
We are gonna burst their balloon

Granit(e) Hard!

Hear hear! and amen to that. The lads know by now how important an NLD is and i have no doubt they will rise to the challenge. What they did standing toe to toe with Liverpool and almost winning it tells me that though we are not playing our best right now, we have at least got our mojo back, and the lads know it too…imagine when we eventually get there?. But, hell, it took mancity under the great Pep almost 2 seasons to get there and Liverpool about 3, and we are just in our first season so we… Read more »

Laca New Signing

Living well yes. Not “nicking a living”. Get in lads!

MeSoHornsey

That was a very slippery banana skin averted. Bournemouth are used to possession play and could hardly get a touch in the 2nd half. Great response.

Who else had to change their trousers after their injury time free kick?

momozemio

Almost(?)…. courtesy from shkodran – bloody hell – mustafi, aka “slippy crazy”, aka “hey ref, I didn’t do it”, aka “brain fart”, aka….
To his credit (sic) i was as much concerned by sokratis “free hug” tendency today as by mustafi. Hope captain Lolo will be competitive soon!

Paul Roberts

“free hug tendency” hahaha…

Tas_Gunner

Gabonese Francis Jeffers ?? The real Fox in the Box!
(Honestly hated that term till now,Auba making me love it!)

Emma

In another note, I am quite sure Mustafi will give me a heart attack very soon. Trust Me!

afan

are you Walcott in disguise, I think that nketiah is worth a punt, instead of auba next time

OneBeatOff

Is ‘afan’ a synonym for ‘very strong narcotic’? Or did you just forget your meds altogether? Either way the short answer is no.

Teryima Adi

Nice goal, Auba

Gunnerlocutor

Trusting the process and living well! COYG!!!

santori

Thought this system with 3 at the back in part was bc of 1) returning option (s) at Cback although not entirely anymore convincing at this point. 2) release offensive power of Kolasinac out wide whilst masking defensive issues still needing work 3) pandered to Auba’s game (particularly in absence of Laca option) in playing to a more counter attacking style. Auba’s track record is superb at the moment. BUT feel he still needs to find a way to find the ball when played to him from deep. If he isn’t as instinctively strong as Laca receiving with back to… Read more »

A Fleeting Glimpse

Ramsey plays nothing like Ozil. Like saying bendtner plays similar game to bergkamp

Get 2 d Choppa

Mahrez and Alexis ears must be itching right now, judging by how many times this Santori dude keeps mentioning them. Jeez move on already, your humongous cringey man crush won’t make them magically show up at your doorstep

Jack but

It was important we won today

Gereoma

It’s a derby folks; they can’t play as they did against Bournemouth . We all thought Liverpool were going to roast us. Arsenal is gradually overcoming its mentality in big games. For the first time in over a decade, Arsenal now plays to the strengths of the opponents.
