Tight thigh sidelines Kolasinac from Saints trip

Arsenal have confirmed that a tight thigh has forced Sead Kolasinac to sit out today’s game with Southampton.

The Bosnian had been expected to start as our left wing-back alongside a reshuffled three-man defence, but Unai Emery, due to Rob Holding’s injury and suspensions to Sokratis and Shkodran Mustafi has had to think again.

We know that Laurent Koscielny, making his first league start since May, will start in the middle but it remains to be seen how the Spaniard sets up the rest of his starting lineup with Stephan Lichtsteiner, Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin all included.

Could he go with a traditional four at the back? Monreal and Bellerin flanking Lichtsteiner and Koscielny? Lichtsteiner and Bellerin flanking Monreal and Koscielny?

Or could he be tempted to drop Granit Xhaka between Koscielny and Lichtsteiner as a three-man defence with Monreal and Bellerin playing wing-back roles?

We’ll find out soon enough. Best wishes to Sead, we’ll miss his attacking prowess. Hopefully it’s not too serious.

Get well soon, Big Sead.

On an unrelated note, from the pic, Puma needs to buck up their workmanship.

Well, they are done at the end of the season. I’m excited for some good looking kits next year! With Poor performances and low morale, I didn’t want to buy one the past few years. I’m now torn between a Torreira/Lacazette/Aubameyang Jersey next year.

Richie

Will Lacazette and Aubameyang even be here next season if we don’t get into the Champions League?

Martin

Well they both signed for us when we weren’t in it

Goonerink

He probably did that himself for headphones.

Who cares, Adidas next year.

Crazy amount of injuries and suspensions.

Hope our makeshift defence copes. Three of them out of their best position or just back from injury. Thank God Southampton are weak. Hope their new manager doesn’t motivate them too much.

Southampton friend’s opinion: Our best player Lemina is missing. Defence is hopeless. Playing 3 at the back, which means we get overrun in midfield. Could be a real stuffing. 1-4

Tim

Well I guess neither side saw that coming. Damn

Lord Bendnter

It somehow feels like he will be playing with Xhaka as a fullback. Otherwise, I don’t see how our midfield would have all three of Xhaka, Torr, and Guendouzi in the center.
Hmmm… interesting to see what happens

I really like Kolasinac a lot and we got him on a free but man he’s injured a lot. We really could’ve used him today with all the injuries at the back. Now we Bellerin and Litchsteiner out, it’s not getting any better for us in defence.

When the gunnes wanted to shoot, they are confronted by 11 players if you include the ref.Ings scored ina one on one.
Arsenal are making life difficult for themselves. The pressing game against Spurs could not be repeated because of injuries. Anyway the epl is a very physical one where the 2 footed lunge by a Saint was not punished with a red.
If Emery wants to win he must get some physically imposing defenders.
