Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made the three-man shortlist for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) 2018 Player of the Year award ahead of this evening’s gala in Dakar, Senegal.
The Gabon international, who won the award in 2015 and has finished in the top three every year since 2014, is up against Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mo Salah for the second year running.
The latter won the award in 2017 and is, unsurprisingly, the favourite this time around.
Auba has scored 26 goals and made seven assists since joining the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund just over a year ago. Alongside ex-Gunner Harry Kane he’s the Premier League’s current top scorer for 2018/19.
Disgrace Elnenny isn’t in that short list. He’s the Egyptian Patrick Vieira and anyone who denies is is an idiot!

This shortlist is made of the only three good players Africa has at the moment. I would put Iwobi fourth and in terms of performance in a big league, this is true. The top ten list this year is almost laughable. I think football people in Africa and from Africa are trying to organize a summit to see how to improve the situation.

Frightfully, he can get better. He still misses a ton of opportunities. If he tucks some of those away, he will be truly a top top player.
Also needs to work on his hold up play. Seems to duck out of it every time when trying to receive long balls from our backline or keeper.
For a “pacy” player, he is also incredibly slow sometimes. Doesn’t seem to be able to get by his men either on the dribble most times.
