Emery rings the changes: Burnley v Arsenal team news

Arsenal take on Burnley in our final Premier League game of the season. There’s not much to play for apart from pride, three points, and around £1.5m if we get overtaken and end up in 6th place.

Here are today’s official line-ups.

Burnley: Heaton, Lowton, Mee, Tarkowski, Taylor, Hendrick, Cork, Westwood, McNeil, Barnes, Wood

Subs: Hart, Gunmundsson, Brady, Crouch, Ward, Vydra, Long

Arsenal: Leno, Lichtsteiner, Mustafi, Mavropanos, Monreal, Elneny, Guendouzi, Mkhitaryan, Willock, Iwobi, Aubameyang

Subs: Cech, Koscielny, Maitland-Niles, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Nketiah, Lacazette

Yikes.

LeeScratchPerryGroves

I know it doesn’t matter in the great scheme of things, but unless Burnley are on the beach, this could get ugly…
Although of course the most likely outcome is 5-0 to us and Theo to get a hat-trick at Goodison.
A man can dream….

Game is at white Hart lane

LeeScratchPerryGroves

That’s why it’s an easy hat-trick for Theo 🙂

Anders B

I dont believe they refer to it as shite hart lane anymore, rather the Stadium

Merlin's Panini

the toilet.

Pakgooner

Really feel Nketiah should’ve got a look in today

Faisal Narrage

Agreed. Hoping he still gets to come on. I can kinda understand starting Auba as he’s chasing the golden boot, but I’m hoping Eddie gets a solid 30-45mins of play.

Was also hoping one more youth on the bench; Saka for one, but happy Willock got a look in.

Glad Mavros gets a start too.

Owl faced Deeney's cojones

Auba should have tried to get the golden boot against the weaker teams we played at the end of season.

Red-Sky

Auba has a shot at the golden boot. so he starts.

Wright Wright wright

No Ozil, even on the bench

Wozfe

Hopefully we can come up with a win and keep Man United behind us and for Aubameyang to score a few goals and have a shot at the Golden Boot.

But it’s not as if Tottenham could lose 5-1 and drop below us in the table on the final day of the season… right?

Paul Roberts

Ozil given the weekend off again? FS!

Alex

With Papa and Torreira! FS!

DB10s Air Miles

Why don’t these players pick themselves? What’s the point in a manager? FS!

Three Steps Sideways

6th it is then.

Rich

Why put a team out that suggests you don’t care about this game, and then spoil it by risking Auba?

Surprised we haven’t seen a few more youngsters

Serpent

Torreira must be carrying a knock. He’d be great against the half-Orcs…

Alex

No, given the week-end off! FS !

DB10s Air Miles

I thought you were being sarcastic on your previous post….. I even joined in… it turns out you really are angry about this. Chin up.

Is there really not anyody we could use at cm instead of the famous elneny/guendouzi partnership? Nothing against either of them but the games they have played together havent exactly been barn burners. I get that we are resting players for the UEL final, but I have been having an ongoing argument with my united supporting room-mate about who has had the shittier league season. I would really like to win that argument today, but this lineup has the stench of a 1-1 draw and a 6th place. Hope I’m wrong! Atleast Lichsteiner gets the farewell game we all were… Read more »

Make Arsenal Great Again

This is going to get really ugly really quickly

Godfrey Twatsloch

Maybe they’re saving Özil and Torreira for the EL final. I guess Lichtsteiner is there for the shit housing and to kick the fuck out of the Burnley orchs but I’m a bit surprised there aren’t more of our brutes in the line up. I reckon we’ll need them.

loose_cannon

But it’s over 2 weeks away…

DB10s Air Miles

Even a fairly minor injury would probably result in a player missing the final. 2 weeks is not long.

Stephen

One almost gets the sense Emery doesn’t think a three point gap and 8 goal difference with us away and Tottenham at home can be surmounted.

Matt Scarbro

Pleased to see Willock get some minutes, always impresses when he plays.

JeremyDG

Auba is going to have to shoot on sight today. No chance he is getting any service with our two hairy sideways passing maestros. Hopefully young Joe has a blinder and Guendouzi remembers the fast forward passing he did at the beginning of the season. Maybe Elneny will remember he used to be able to shoot as well…

Vaino Petrus

Emery truly enjoying defeat even at last moments doesn’t want supporters to end a season with celebration

Hantal

I’d have liked to see a few more youngsters on the bench but still a good number available

The_Kolkata_Gooner

This almost looks like one of those Worst 11 line-ups! 😀 But understandable…wish to see Nketiah at some point.
COYG!

Leon

Pointless game to a pointless season.
Arsenal fans want Arsenal to challenge.
Arsenal just want to make money and not show any ambition.
Rinse and repeat…
Nothing will ever change…

DB10s Air Miles

Do you need a hug?

Hantal

Yesterday emery said today’s lineup would depend on desire and fitness.
With kos on the bench (now on the pitch) I’m not sure fitness was a concern so much as desire/attitude

Grindstormer

Disappointed with the line-up today, we needed to field a team capable of an unlikely 8 nil victory, that means ultra attacking, going for broke… this looks like a team being rested… why?!?! It’s seventeen days til the final!
