Guendouzi handed summer call up for French U21s

Matteo Guendouzi has been included in the France squad for the U21 European Championships taking place this summer.

The 19 year old enjoyed a solid first season at the club and in English football following his surprise move from Lorient last year.

He made 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing two assists, and his reward is inclusion for the tournament which takes place in Italy and San Marino.

France are in a group with England, Romania and Croatia, kicking off their campaign on June 18th against Aidy Boothroyd’s side.

The England squad, which has yet to be named, is likely to include fellow Arsenal man Reiss Nelson who will be looking to stake a claim for a first team place next season.

Krystian Bielik is expected to be part of the Poland squad too and we’ll provide further updates on Arsenal inclusions as and when we get them.

Good up and coming player. And a good country to be playing for, given their status.

Hope he does well (and gets some rest too).

TeeCee

Hmm. Status.
Probably worth mentioning that the current WC holders at this level* are, er, England…

*No, I can’t work out why the WC has U20 while everything else runs on U21. Presumably there’s a profit in this discrepancy somewhere.
