Mikel Arteta says that he’ll wait for the club to make a decision about potential security issues before he finalises plans for a warm weather training camp next month.
After playing Burnley on February 2nd, the Gunners have two weeks before their next game – a home clash against Newcastle.
The manager is planning to bring his players away for some training/bonding, as well as giving the players a couple of days off with their families.
However, with Dubai earmarked as the potential location, and with recent issues in the Middle-East, Arsenal are considering their options.
“The security decision will be the priority,” said Arteta.
“If we are advised by the club and the people making those decisions that it’s not safe we won’t be going anywhere.
“We talked about different options in this break to go away and live together in a different environment with better weather conditions and a little bit away from here.
“We still have a few things to look after from a club perspective and when we know all that we will confirm what we are doing.
“At the moment we have two or three different options.”
It’s believed the club are considering the south of Spain as an alternative option if it’s deemed unsafe to travel to Dubai at this time.
Or Southend.
Personally I find the quality of the jellied eels in Southend infinitely superior to those either in Dubai or southern Spain.
Decision made.
And that’s to mention the amusements and dodgem rides as well as a mile long pier.
No comparison.
Come to Perth / Australia nice and warm?
And smoky.
It’ll certainly light a fire under them to perform when they come back to London.
It would take something for the fires to reach Western Australia. Try again.
Rwanda is pretty warm this time of year…
Yeah, but wherever will they get the idea to “Visit Rwanda”?
Why spend all that time flying to Dubai and back?
Better to go down the pub, like our Arsenal heroes did in the 70s and 80s.
Agree
What about the alternative – cold weather training – forge them into steel in the land of fire and ice. They´re welcome to Iceland
Smacks suspiciously of some sort of corporate commitment.
Why go all the way out there?
Even harder to go out to the heat and then come back into the cold if you ask me. Much rather down to South of France or Spain. Otherwise Southend.
It didn’t seem to do much good last time. Why not just have a staycation?
Lagos, Nigeria would be fantastic.
Ride on mate!!!
