Arsenal’s reward for beating Bournemouth 2-1 this evening is another trip to the South Coast after we were drawn away at League One Portsmouth in the FA Cup 5th round.
The last time we played Pompey at Fratton Park, Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles notched a ridiculously impressive 5-1 win.
We played so well that night that when Patrick Vieira, Freddie Ljungberg and Thierry Henry were taken off in a triple substitution – the latter two having grabbed a brace each – they were given a standing ovation by the home supporters.
We’ve faced Portsmouth on three other occasions in the FA Cup; we beat them after a replay in 1971 on the way to the Double and in 1932.
The match will take place between 3-6 March, sandwiched between matches with Manchester City and West Ham.
The City game could actually be postponed if they make the final of the Carabao Cup.
Never disliked Portsmouth, they always played good football in the prem
Agreed. I have been sad to see the troubles that club has been through and hope they make a return to the top flight soon enough.
Except that time Sol said he wanted to play abroad and then he went to Portsmouth and Arsene said he didn’t know Portsmouth was abroad.
Hahahaha
I just hope to see Arsenal keeps up with the way they playing now i surpose they need to work more on the difence because there is always that last minute goals coming from the other teams .
We are going to Wembley!
Last time we played at Fratton Park was December 2009, 4-1 win?
The City game could actually be postponed if they make the final of the Carabao Cup…
Lord Bergkamp please make it happen! ?
