Tyreece John-Jules has joined Lincoln City on loan for the rest of the season.
The young striker will spend the rest of this campaign with the League One side, looking for playing time that will help him develop. A regular scorer at youth level, this is his first real foray into the world of the senior game, and he joins a team who could use goals to push them further away from the relegation zone.
The 18 year old signed a new contract at the Emirates in August after impressing Unai Emery during the pre-season tour of the US.
Lincoln boss Michael Appleton said, “If I said a few clubs were after him, then I’d be under playing it.
“Again, it comes down to the trust that Arsenal have in us as a club and a group to look after him and develop him in the right way.
“Tyreece can be anything, if the loan goes well, we’re all touching wood that it does, don’t be surprised if you see him playing as Arsenal’s number nine at some point in the future.”
John-Jules goes with the blessing of Mikel Arteta who admitted the highly-rated youngster – who has been training regularly with the first team of late – almost got a run-out in the 1-0 FA Cup win over Leeds on Monday.
“I think he’s got a good chance,” said the boss.
“He needs to go and prove himself now, and he needs to challenge himself. He’s probably in a very comfortable environment here but he needs to get exposed and after that we’ll see where he is.”
Best of luck to him at Lincoln City.
Good luck young man! Top grades so far. Now its time to start your first real job.
We wish you injuiring free and bags in goal .
Big prospect. Good luck to him. Good frame, great hold up play. One for the future.
We’ve waited for an academy striker to come good for years! Afobe, Akpom,(Aliadiere?) – even JET. They’re always touted as the next big thing but never quite make it. Now we have Eddie and Tyreece. I hope that between Arteta’s coaching and our improved loan system, we can nurture one, or both, into regular Premier League starters. I’m not talking about replacements for Auba. But we’ve shown this season that we didn’t need two world-class, but incompatible strikers. We needed balance. Even if they turn into Iwobi/Chambers level players – solid, squad options with strong market values – then the… Read more »
Hope Tyree e stays injury free and gets ghe game time to progress further.
Good luck to him. Nice city too.
