Arsenal Women’s FA Cup 5th round tie against Lewes this afternoon has been postponed owing to stormy conditions. It’s the second weekend in a row where a game has been called off at Meadow Park due to concerns over spectator safety with Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis wreaking havoc across the country.
⚠️ MATCH POSTPONED ⚠️
This decision has been taken due to crowd safety issues relating to the current weather conditions. Please do not travel to Meadow Park.

The tie will now be played next Sunday at 1pm at Meadow Park, which means the WSL game against Reading originally scheduled for that day will now be rearranged. The Gunners’ WSL clash with Spurs also fell victim to the weather last week and will now be played on Wednesday, 13th May.
Chelsea moved their cup tie with Liverpool from Sunday to Monday night earlier this week in anticipation of the conditions. This option wasn’t available to Arsenal as their U-23s have a game at Boreham Wood on Monday evening. The draw for the FA Cup quarter-finals will take place on Monday evening at 8.45pm.
Chelsea vs Chelsea? Send all of them off!
Sensible decision as where I am the weather is actually worse this week than it was last week when the Spuds game was postponed.
It does our team a favour as well because although we would expect our Academy girls to dispatch Lewes (no disrespect to their ethical makeup club) it would be great if we can get Lia and perhaps Meado back on the bench if not in the starting line-up.
….and give Caitlin Foord a week to aclimatise (assuming she isn’t
Coronavirus quarantined on the Wirral following her visit to China)?
Glad to see she has arrived at London Colney & looking “upfor it” in training ?
Give her a start on Sunday. Bang in a first half hat-trick, sorry Lewes, and confidence will be sky high for the onslaught of Conti Cup Final, remainder of the WSL and Champions League.
Oh, and Viv can have the weekend off for a soothing back massage!
