Arsenal have confirmed that Gabriel will miss our next three games as he has to self-isolate having been in close contact with someone diagnosed with Covid-19.
So, as well as being absent for today’s clash with Chelsea, he also misses the trips to Brighton and West Brom, and the home encounter with Newcastle in the FA Cup.
Fellow Brazilians Willian and David Luiz also sit out today’s game, with the club reporting:
“Both are unwell but have both recently tested negative. We will continue to monitor, support and assess their conditions.”
While the two elderly players aren’t a huge miss, the younger Brazilian has been one of our better players so far this season, so it’s a blow.
Let’s hope that there’s no further spread within the squad too.
When it pours and all that
Well we also got an umbrella in the form of Willian…just saying
It’s monsoon.
Hope all three are well and fit again soon.
60 million people died this year in the world, of that 1.7 million deaths from COVID. Covid and Arsenal both seem to be going nowhere. Urgh!
I just hope someone is working on a vaccine–or better, multiple vaccines–for the many things that ail Arsenal right now.
Update: Arsenal are now going somewhere. (ARS 3 – 1 CHE)
Though the science seems to be mixed, it looks like younger people aren’t affected as seriously by Covid.
I guess the same is true for whatever Arsenal is afflicted by; 19- and 20-year-olds look to be doing quite well.
Willian is considered “at risk” given his advanced age.
I hope it is risky enough for him to retire. We just needed him out of the squad, and Arsenal are winning
He’s a risk alright.
Our chances of relegation go through the roof every time he steps onto the pitch.
