Arsenal have confirmed that Kieran Tierney will miss tomorrow’s trip to Wolves.
The Scot has been struggling with a calf problem for a couple of weeks and has sat out three of the last four league games. It’s expected that Cedric will continue to deputies.
New keeper Mat Ryan has also been ruled out due to a hip problem.
In better news, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back in full training following a spell in quarantine. While the latest update from the medical team doesn’t state it explicitly, we’re assuming he’s available having missed three games in a row.
Alex Lacazette is also available having avoided a concussion landing awkwardly in the closing stages of Saturday’s draw with Manchester United.
Dani Ceballos (calf), Pablo Mari (calf) and Bukayo Saka (hip) have also returned to full training but a decision on their involvement at Molineux is yet to be made.
I know there is little time left (5:45 when posting) but surely sending out AMN without having a plan for FB cover after the other transfer business is crazy?
I agree, but AMN wants playing time till end of season which MA cannot guarantee
Sounds harsh but that’s not really our problem. It doesn’t say anywhere on his contract that he must get playing time.
It will become our problem when he doesn’t play and then wants to leave and his value is rock bottom due to not having games.
I think a young England international’s value should hold.
And what about the value we put on winning the Europa or getting European football via the league?
We would only be a couple of injuries away from having a real problem if we let AMN go without a replacement.
He will not keep the place in the England side if he doesn’t play enough.
I’m amazed that people are more keen on inflating the price of a second string player than ensuring we have enough players for all positions.
All our full backs are very injury prone.
Who gives a hoot about Ainsley’s hypothetical value when we are playing Xhaka at LB in a Europa semi final?
Cedric came to Arsenal as a right back. AMN leaving on loan means MA put his plan in action. It was all planned for.
I guess Chambers can play right-back if need be. Saka can play left-back in case of emergency – i.e. Tierney and Cedric both missing. It’s a good move for AMN.
Yikes – Chambers would be such a target though. Imagine it’s late April and we need every point and it’s the derby with a revitalized Kane. I would not want Cambers playing RB. I think it’s nuts that he’s leaving, personally, but I get of course that he needs to play. I just wish he were steadily in the rotation at RB. Bellerlin/AMN + Tierney/Cedric would get us through.
Chambers had a long run at RB before his injury. He’s not amazing obviously but he did well. He was solid and even bombed forward which was a pleasant surprise. I think as a backup he’s decent enough and a good option.
I think people have forgotten how good he was getting before he went down with an ACL (even a RB he was doing well right at the end). Very similar story to Holding, and now Holding is back he’s showing how good he is. Chambers is a really solid player, if he didn’t get injured there is a fair chance he’d be the one getting the games over Holding.
The kid doesn’t want to play at FB, which creates another problem
He’s going to West Brom to play for Sam Allardyce
He must *really* want to play in midfield.
You have anything to back this up (within the last 2-3 years)?
I dunno about AMN. But I always used to get a bit vexed when Theo would moan about not playing CF or Rambo would say how much he wants to play in the middle as apposed to on the right.
I just always thought, man, you’re playing for Arsenal, what more do you want? Just putting that beautiful shirt on should be enough.
I agree, and I’ve said exactly what I said in my comment 5-10 other times when people spout this one and I’m still waiting for the evidence of AMN stating that he publicly wants to play as a midfielder in the last 2-3 years…

Fair enough. Still he better get used to it. Interesting though, his defense is now the strongest part of his game.
Would that apply to Saka as a left back?
By the way, Theo was a joke. He complained for years and at the beginning of one season, wenger put him ahead of Giroud. First three games were promising. Therafter Theo himself wanted back to right wing.
He already debunked that myth saying he was ready to play in any positions the manager asked him.
Hope Saka and Mari make it back.
Gone to Abu Dhabi??
Maybe he should man down a bit and start wearing layers to keep his muscles warm and stuff
That was him wrapped up. He’d be melting with layers on in this weather.
Øh nø
Nice to know Mat Ryan lasted a week.
We need to sign at least one injured player
Good news on Lacazette and Aubameyang.
Get well soon Kieran!
What a transfer window Edu and Arteta zooming through the deadwood bye bye Mustafi,Amn,Willock
“Deadwood”?? Two of those are likely to be loans mate, steady on.
Wish he could get rid of the deadwood fans too!
Pretty harsh on at least two players who have done a decent job for the club. AMN in particular has had his moments – not quite enough moments, but he certainly had them. Although it looks increasingly unlikely that AMN’s long-term future is at Arsenal, I somehow hope he finds a way back. At his best, he is good enough.
Like to see Ceballos available soon. He was looking good in practise mid week. Odegaard as predictable will need time to settle. Ceballos can be an alternative in that position in lieu of ESR or as a tandem with either of ESR or Odegaard eventually with one of Partey or Xhaka on base. Mari will also be a big welcome back albeit we need to be bringing Gabriel back in now. Luiz is decent as a filler but the future is with the younger man. The most important player though is Saka. Pepe has been much improved IMO and put… Read more »
Is it just me or would anyone else stick with Pepe for this game?
I think he’s quite a sensitive player, arm around the shoulder type, and having seen him play into a bit of form, think it would give him even more of a confidence boost if despite Auba/Saka being fit we stuck with him…
If he plays it has to be on the left.
I have been spoiled by Saka’s excellent delivery on the right.
I strongly believe if Saka had played the last game, he would have found Laca in the box, at least, once…and probably bury the chance Mcguire blocked. I thought there was a yawning gap between McGuire and the post.
The gap was probably blocked by his massive head
On the deck, Bruv
Would put Auba and Saka on the bench and would activate them only if necessary – keeping Bukayo in a good health is essential in the long run…
This is the other thing I do not understand at all.
These blokes Ceballos, Mari are having calf strains etc…so why on earth are they training?
You look at the Arsenal main web site and they are running around kicking the ball…
last I checked the best thing for calf strains is simply rest.
How much more are they going to get being in a training session or 3 this week? They won’t get less or more sharp but it takes longer to recover on the strain.
It makes no sense whatsoever.
You really no nothing.
I think we will have enough to take the 3 points tomorrow, but I shudder at the thought of Adama Traore running at Cedric.
Seems like a good job for AMN. Oh wait…
