Arsenal Women confirm season opener v Chelsea at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal Women have confirmed that their Women’s Super League season opener against Chelsea on the weekend of 4/5 September will take place at Emirates Stadium. The teams played one another in a pre-season friendly on Sunday, a game which the Gunners won 2-1.

The teams will face off at the Emirates again during the first weekend of September, this time in a competitive game as the teams get their WSL campaigns underway. Tickets will go on sale this coming Wednesday, 11th August (Arsenal Women members will receive an email with details of how to claim their seats), full information here.

This game takes place during an international weekend for the men’s game. Confirmation of the time and date of this match will be forthcoming very shortly, with Sky Sports and BBC still to announce their television picks for the opening round of WSL fixtures. Sp*rs and Brighton Women have already announced that they will hold their opening games in their men’s team’s stadium.

Arsenal have also confirmed that the North London Derby against Sp*rs- to be played during the last weekend of March 2022- will also be played at Emirates Stadium. This also represents an international weekend in the men’s schedule. My understanding is that if Arsenal Women successfully negotiate their Champions League qualifying rounds later this month, a Champions League group game will almost certainly be played at the Emirates. There is an FA Cup tie against Sp*rs on September 29th which I understood was under consideration- though it has not been mentioned in this announcement.
