Arsenal have confirmed that young forward Amani Richards has signed a first professional contract with the club.
The 17-year-old, a recruit from Chelsea’s Academy earlier this year, has been rewarded for his decent form at under-18 level and now has his sights set on emulating Bukayo Saka.
“Saka is such a big inspiration for me,” he told Arsenal.com. “He’s doing it at a big level, on the big stage at such a young age, it’s really inspirational.”
After putting pen-to-paper. Amani, a boyhood Gooner, couldn’t hide his delight at taking a step closer to the senior squad.
“I feel great, it’s a surreal feeling, especially because it’s my boyhood club and I grew up supporting them,” he said.
“Representing Arsenal is crazy, no words can describe it, it’s out of this world!”
Big congratulations to Amani, we look forward to following his development in the coming years.
As an added bonus, here’s a video of him taking his part in the MOTDx 50-second challenge at Dulwich Hamlet’s Champions Hill.
