Arsenal winger and full-back Lisa Evans will leave the club this summer at the expiry of her contract.
Evans joined the club from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2017 alongside Vivianne Miedema and was a key member of the team that won the 2018 Conti Cup and the 2018-19 WSL title.

The Scottish international joined as a right-winger but converted to right-back following the retirement of Alex Scott and the departure of Jess Samuelsson from the club. Her marauding performances at right-back made her a firm fan favourite at Meadow Park.
However, the recruitment of Tobin Heath and Nikita Parris last summer pushed her down the pecking order and she spent last season on loan at West Ham United. Lisa is one of a clutch of players whose contracts have expired this summer who are expected to leave the club. All the best to Lisa in her next step.
As it turned out we might have been better keeping Lisa last season, good luck Lisa we’ll miss you
Not so sure given that Mead and Maritz were among Arsenal’s most used players. If Parris was struggling for minutes, not sure Lisa would have seen the pitch much at all.
Fair enough
Good luck to her!

Any names for the other players out of contract and not yet re signed?
Williams, Boye, Beattie and Schnaderbeck.
Fran Stenson?
I have always felt we could use an upgrade in the goalkeeping position. Zingsberger was great last season, but I still feel we need a true game changer in that position.
Would be interesting to see what Jonas thinks.
Am with you on that one.
Isn’t she Miedema’s girlfriend? Potentially a negative for Miedema’s long term future (depending where Lisa moves on to)
There are other clubs in London. Maybe West Ham will keep her on.
Yes she is Viv’s partner but lm sure they have discussed the move. If Lisa stays with West Ham it won’t be too bad for them. Good luck to Lisa hope she does well. She has been a good servant to the club 👍
All the very best Lisa. Your personality shone through and your contribution to AWFC during the last 5 years has been immense both on the pitch and off.
I know we now have Noelle and Laura at right back and Meado and for the time being at least Lil’ Keets in front of them, but I would have given Lisa a short-term extension of say a year just as a flexible deputy to those 4 as she always gave 110% on the pitch and we now have European games again along with the domestic competitions. Unless, of course, Jonas has a cunning plan up his sleeve and there are some additions to the squad on the horizon that we don’t yet know about!
I don’t think a 30-year-old player would or should accept a role like that really. Arsenal are stacked at right wing and at right-back. Last season the squad was too big, too many players couldn’t get minutes, she deserves to play and I think, if anything, Arsenal have a bit too much depth.
She’s such a bright spark! I hope that whichever club she’ll go to next can give her more playing time 🙂
I’m so sorry to see such an adaptable player go. Her play brightened up many matches and I will miss her quiet fire on the pitch. Wherever you go Lisa the team that you end up with will be lucky to have you. The very best of luck to you.
Sad to see Lisa Evans go – she would play anywhere and gave 100% every second of every game with a really upbeat, positive attitude. We missed her pace at times, but this move was coming after she went out on loan. Good luck to her, and I hope she stays at West Ham. It’s a good fit for her.
Plus she gets extra points for teaching Viv to say “wee” in a Dutch-Scottish accent!
At the end of the day we have to be sensible and consider how much playing time Lisa would have got. Next season is very important to us and we don’t know what new players are coming in to give us more depth in the squad. I liked Lisa as a player for her speed and the ability to cross good balls into the penalty area and not forgetting her personality as well. Good luck Lisa.
