Rob Holding and Aaron Ramsdale spoke to Sky Sports after the 2-1 win over West Ham today. Here’s what they had to say.
Spurs win, vital to win?
Ramsdale: To be honest I didn’t know they’d won so it was vital that we got three points anyway. I came out early to warm up but every game is vital for us to get three points between now and the end of the season, to get that fourth place or third if we’re looking even higher.
Did you know they’d won?
Holding: Yeah, of course we knew coming off the coach they’d scored an early goal, It’s going to be like that, we’ll play before then some weekends, they’ll play before us and we have to deal with the pressure. It’s nice and close, we’ll see how we keep going until the end of the season now.
Rob, your first PL Goal. Were you surprised?
Holding: Yeah, a little bit. I’ve scored a few Carabao Cup goals but it’s not get my first Premier League goal and build on that now.
Ramsdale: It only took 6 years and a new hairline!
Holding: Come on mate!
Ramsdale’s save from Rice
Ramsdale: We pride ourselves on set-pieces, and we’ve come through the whole season so far … touch wood … without conceding. We knew they have a big threat, we utilised our threat, I made a decent save, but I’m happy for Rob and Gabi scoring the goals and getting us the win.
Perfect day when it’s solid at the back and both centre-halves score?
Holding: I think if it was a clean sheet it would have been a perfect day, but we’re there or thereabouts.
Bowen jumping over Ramsdale
Ramsdale: I didn’t touch him, I was a good yard away. I just spoke to him, he’s a good lad but he said he thought I was going to clamp him so he tried to jump out of the way to not get injured. But I didn’t actually touch him, he was honest, he jumped straight uo and said ‘No no no, it’s not a foul’, but I knew straight away.
How is the run-in going to be?
Holding: It’s going to be touch and go at times, your heart rate will be going high at times. If we can just keep control in what we do and keep picking up the points it’s all we can do.
Three wins in a row. What about the belief?
Ramsdale: Yeah, it’s massive. When this man has come in for Ben so it shows we’ve got … it might be little, but it’s quality depth in the squad. We can rely on each other, we’re going to need every single one, staff included, to do this right to the end of the season.
Great lads. Super to see.
Delighted for Holdinho – what a guy!
He’s better than Cannavaro
Getting some solid bantz vibe from that photo. Good job boys!
How English is our super team gonna get ? Brilliant to see those lads representing our club and whilst we are here ? Can we just agree that hail rain or shine Mo tries his nuts off for us ? Great game to win today well done lads
Ramsdale referencing the hairline, what a lad.
Downvoted by two balding berties
Conspiracy theorist? …..CAPFISH
Did a Great job on both areas his header & bonce..
West Ham players all seem like they were born behind an alleyway dumpster but fair play to Jarred Bowen for telling the ref Ramsdale didn’t touch him.
Good man, good sportsmanship. Clearly he was born in an actual hospital
Safe to say Europa League secured……. weldone you gunners! We would have taken this after the first three matches…..match spurs for all their results and we’re home free!
Ramsdale: It only took 6 years and a new hairline!
Ramsdale my new favorite player at Arsenal.
He’s been my new fave since last fall
‘Last fall’s- wth is that?!!
As both goals cane from headers I think it’s fair to say that the kicking specialist we brought in is nicking a living.
Defending Them also. WH has some quality free kicks but today the didn’t threatened us bar the Rice header
Maybe so, but the set piece specialist – he’s earned his wage.
holding’s such a nice lad, i get really happy for him when good things happen to him. hope he stays with us.
Good lads. Let’s go for the third place then! (I know it’s not in our hands but what’s wrong with dreaming?)
I would not mind seeing Bowen in an Arsenal shirt at all.
Esr/Martinelli and Saka/Bowen for the wings sounds awesome for next season’s league+cups+europe
I could see Bowen as a striker, to be honest. His hold up play and being able to play on the last man would suit us down to the ground.
Especially with Jesus upping his own price tag.
Ramsdale is just a big kid. When he matures he’ll be even better.
They’re all massive. If Arteta does not make Top four, I should think he should go. We are not in any cup competitions or europe. We have failed to take appropriate measures (and obvious ones) to address shortfalls in last summer and Jan and we have made some poor decisions in market. This is the minimum standard required IMO. How times have change when Wenger consistently made top 4 and even europa end of tenure when Wenger Outs contributed to difficulties and poor performances. We should be making Top 4. But we won’t be doing so if we start to… Read more »
Seek therapy, Santori. If you view the rest of life the way you do all things Arsenal, you must be an absolutely miserable person to be around.
How sweet would it not be to pinch the third spot from under the noses of the Oligarlacticos and celebrate St Totteringhams at the same time.
Happy times!
This may be viewed as sacrilege, but I wouldn’t be broken hearted if both Arsenal and Spurs made the top four and pushed Chelsea down to fifth.
Accepted on one condition. We get 3rd, sp*rs get 4th and then some weird combination of results makes 4th a Europa spot.
